So, we are right where I’ve been saying for we are for years. At best we are mediocre, which in my book means we suck. Mediocrity is NOT an option. So what is the issue?

First, Mariota isn’t the guy. We are 3 years in and he has been unable to prove he can lead a top level NFL team. In fact, he can’t even stay healthy. The spread offense is NOT a PRO caliber offense and that’s all he seems to be able to play. I guess nobody was paying attention to why Murray failed in Philly. It was the spread offense. Constantly trying to run him outside is not his style. Run him up the middle like Dallas did. We’re trying to force him into the wrong offense so that our QB can be comfortable. So, like Locker and Young before him, Mariota is a bust.
We continue to fail at drafting WRs. He has way too may “potential” guys in our past that gone on to fail for other teams proving their true ability. So who and where is this Davis character? Another bust?

Our OL was touted to be one of the best in the NFL during the preseason, but somebody forgot to remind the media that we have yet to address our needs at guard. That might also explain why we keep trying to run the ball constantly to the outside. We need to do so work here.

Coaching: is Mularkey the guy? If so, we need to upgrade our [JP1]. But, I think Mularkey has done a great job of transitioning us to the point it is time to take the next step in our recovery process. So now, we need the guy who is going to lead this team to the next level. Who will that be? Remember, JR was pretty much handed Mularkey. I wonder who his guy is?
The defense has impressed me this year. I was disappointed that we didn’t do more in the off-season to help the D, but our DC seems to be getting these guys to play. But remember his age. We need to get the best LeBeau pupil on staff and ready to take over when Dick rides off into the sunset.

I am happy with JR as GM, but it is time to kick it up a notch. We have serious needs at G, WR, QB, and need improvements on Defense, not to mention coaching staff improvement needs. This can’t all be address in one season but we need him to have his best offseason right now.

Fans: It is going to be a challenge for us to sneak into the playoffs, and if we do, the truth is we won’t go far. But the experience of getting there is crucial for the development of this team. As fans, we must remember that and support them, especially if we are able to play a game at home. Our last 2 regular season games are at home and are crucial not only in the win column, but more important to the moral and support of the community and the team itself. Those of us who have been through the tough and good times in Houston, the good and bad during the move, and the good and bad in Nashville, and who have stuck by the team regardless, need now to stand strong together as we are getting closer to transitioning from just another suck mediocre team to a championship challenging team. It might take a year or two more but JR has us on the right path. Stick with the Titans.

    Nice post...

The crazy thing about our current position is that we control our own destiny to win the division...if we somehow pull it together and win out this fan base will be crazy and Nissan stadium will be totally rocking for our home playoff game. If we lay an egg at home against either the Rams or Jags then the boo birds and fire Mularkey chants will rain down from the crowd.

We are so close to winning the division and yet so close to having the fan base revolt against our current staff.

Should be an interesting final 3 weeks

    Fair outlook.
I have a different one though.
    A) I think you have the Mularkey/Mariota positions backwards as in Mularkey isn't the guy and Mariota is still a question mark. That's just a disagreement, not a correction.

    B) Agree with G. Don't want to draft another WR, especially first round pretty much ever again. Lots of folks are on the draft a QB program and everything is fixed. Not only is that hardly true, but if the system isn't right or the highest QB candidate is just a media hype train (ala Geno Smith type guy, or Jamarcus Russell) then it's a total waste and giant set back.

    C) Murray isn't hitting the holes like he did even last year. Not sure what the deal is, but maybe the lack of blocking makes him hesitant for the few runs the blocking actually does well. To me, doesn't matter, start feeding Henry instead.

    D) The D comes to play every week no doubt. There are some plays I see still though where DLB puts our DB's in bad positions though considering what the play calls for, like putting the DB off 10 yards for a 3rd and 3 play. The last "pupil" we had from DLB was Ray Horton, I'm good looking elsewhere.

    E) Total agreement that playoffs is big for the development of the young talent. Even if they don't win WC weekend, that experience is key and the feeling of not being the total losers they have been for a decade has to be a promising sign for the locker room.

We have been witnessing the mulsucky high water mark the past two season....career record is 35-51...winning percentage of .407. Take away the past two "winning" seasons and his career record is 18-39 or a winning percentage of only .316. That translates into a 5-11 season. THAT is what Mulsucky is. He is the reason this team is middle of the road at best. FIRE MULSUCKY

D playing great because we have great DC.

O sucking because we have a suck OC.

HC losing record overall despite a ton of draft capitol invested below average. He has a hack staff and is handcuffed on getting some quality assistants. No future improvement likely. He needs to be fired.

Although I think JR should be given the chance now to bring in his guy as HC, and yes I am aware of MM's W/L record, but I think he has done a fine job of transitioning us from laughing stock in the NFL to up start mediocrity. Now it's time to move on up to NFL elite. So who's going to lead us there?

Who's going to bring us a "winnings not enough, only total domination is acceptable" attitude? This franchise has been there before and we need to get there again.
