your rage has blinded you. I'm saying Mariota should have slid correctly just as he should have chose to run a few times when the middle was wide open.

Jesus dude- you're frothing. Mularkey has sucked his entire career. His scheme has sucked also. And no- coaches don't get a break for "a bad season" save maybe the first one as they transition.

This team has been infused with high draft capital. Mularkey was billed as "QB whisperer". Mariota is regressing. O production is regressing.

    Why all the Mularkey love?

He was playing behind Fat Chance, rookie Lewan, Swing door Schwenke etc. It was a superbly chitty O-line and everybody knew it.

I agree. It is refreshing to see Mariota flatly deny injuries are involved.

Him denying the injuries makes it look like MM is just trying to throw an excuse for his scheme sucking.

My mistake. It read to me as if you were blaming the coaches for Mariota not sliding properly.

The problem is that I see an offensive scheme that is well-designed. In particular when you take into account it tries to hide the flaws that Mariota has:

    1) He's not good at going through progressions. I didn't watch the Ducks, but I wouldn't be suprised if it was a 1 read system.
    2) He has accuracy problems (maybe due to poor footwork, I'm not sure) which is especially highlighted on routes deeper than 15 yards.

And then people want to fire a coach that has us on a winning record in favor of an unknown, who may be the next Hue Jackson (in fact some people here are actually calling for Hue Jackson, who is currently doing a stellar job in Cleveland...). To me that's just stupid.
If we could replace Mularkey with a proven coach, then I'd be all for it. But the next coach we get is going to be some unproven coordinator/assistant or college coach. We're not going to get Belichik or Payton. It's not happening.

And Whisenhunt did F all to address it, which is why he got canned.
