My worst nightmare is that we don't make the playoffs, Mularkey gets fired, and then we go off and hire Jeff Fisher 2.0:

Don't think Marvin Lewis is a JRob guy

Any HC can be decent with good coordinators.

MM wouldn't be so bad if Robiskie was worth a damn

    Playoffs.

A new staff doesn't guarantee success.

There are no grantees a new coach would be an improvement. For every McVay that everyone here loves, there are 10 Hue Jacksons.

The current staff almost guarantees a lack of success though.

It is now very clear to me that mm is not a game day coach. He has talent that is not utilized, and does not have situational awareness. If he can't get rid of robiskie then he must go. Everyone on this forum knew if we gave SF the ball back with 1:07 and a time out we would lose, yet he ran right up the middle (so predictable). Murray has helped us, but he should retire. Tomorrow. Every run he made he looked for place to fall down to avoid contact. He's done. We also can't figure the best ways to get Henry the ball. 2nd and goal, two defenders (both DB s) to the wide side of the field to the right, outside the end, and we run a sweep left into traffic. We run him again to the left on a pass pattern, and m8 throws him the ball with a defender bearing down on him. A delay release out of the backfield would work better. The next time SF got the ball they did exactly that and the RB got 15. We have broken the bank on offense, yet can't find a way to get two yards to keep a drive going. A 50 yard FG is no guarantee either. The first game mm took over he played it just as bad at NO, but got away with it. He will never be a great coach. He doesn't coach D, but ultimately it's his team. Last night during hilites, the guy on SNF said "what kind of coverage is that?" On the last drive. We had receivers running free all day. Where was the coverage? It's just plain embarrassing to see a team play this bad. It's time to move on to a real coach.

I'm really worried this is how it'll play out.

I'm not, I do not expect the jags to be merciful on the Titans in any way. Also, there is no guarantee that our starters can even beat their backups. The Titans barely beat the Texans third stringers only a few weeks ago.

I am truly a fan, but each week I sit there and watch this modified, slightly different 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense/mentality better known as "Exotic Smash Mouth Football" play out on the field with disastrous results. Anyone with half a eye for Football knows that our offense, does not pass the eye test. It's many things, boring, non-productive and least being, not very competitive. The Defense while having it's moments is not one that can hold teams down for 4 quarters.

While I would love to see us make the Playoffs, I am of the mindset, that experience for experience sake is useless, I never understood the adage "It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all (Screw that)". What does it profit a team to make the playoffs every year only to never make it to the Super Bowl. We get to say " We have made the Playoffs for XX years in a row. Some see that as success, and think we only needed a player or two to get to the next level, while others see that as being a Perennial Loser. I tend to side with the Later. Making the Playoffs will only provide FALSE hope that MM is getting better, and making progress, when we all know that a HC that has a Coaching record of 35-52 does not instill confidence in anyone for the long term.

Lastly, us making the playoffs only ensures
    1. MM gets another year at keeping this club at a sub-par level
    2. We get a Mid-Late round draft pick for our efforts that may or may not pan out, but most assuredly, will not add to MM's ability to bring us further along.

Sorry for the long post, but I honestly have had this debate internally weekly, and it never fails. For better or worse, I want this coaching staff GONE! because we have seen Their brand of better, so it only gets worse from here.
