Our starting LBs if Thornton can't go are Bulluck, Tulluch and Sirmon. Signing this guy is only for depth in case we have another injury. Looks like Tulluch will get to play MLB the rest of the year which is the only bright spot of Thornton's injury. Maybe they are going to IR Thornton if the injury is worse than they thought. Even so, it still looks like Toone and Nande may have been wasted picks.

Doubtful you break down game films each week.

you dont have break down film to see tulloch has played better than sirmon the past two weeks. especially against the ravens.

and yes, i have broken down numerous games this year. sirmon has been in position to make a lot of plays, he just isnt athletic enough to make them.

Since Sirmon and Tullock can't BOTH play MLB at the same time, wouldn't it be rather difficult to compare? Tullock is going to be a good player, but I would say what Sirmon lacks in speed right now he makes up for in knowledge.

i would say comparing tulloch's second start in the nfl versus sirmon playing his natural position is more fair to sirmon than anthing. that didnt stop tulloch from outplaying him.

tulloch had two pass breakups while sirmon was nonexsistent in the passing game. tulloch also led the team in tackles, despite not playing on passing downs(1 of them was on ST)

sirmon lacks speed, and makes up for it in knowledge, but he just doesnt get to the ball carrierer. i've seen him miss plays he should make way too many times on the edge because he just cant get there. he has had clear runs right to the runningback and just cant make it there in time.

he's a smart player and a good guy, he just cant get it done anymore.

I am sure we don't resign Sirmon because we do have Tullock, but I am not sure he is ready to start. He certainly has potential, although his size could be better. It will be interesting to see how much he plays this week.

Don't you mean he makes up for it sometimes with knowledge, but not most the time? Maybe I'm nitpicking how you put it :ha:

It's true about Pete's speed, and quickness....it's just not there. I always thought he was slow, but it looks like he's even slower now.

If they stick with the current lineup, at least we see a glimpse of what we hopes the future. I wouldn't mind if they just sit Thorton to let him heal and give some of the other LB's reps.

Agreed on Sirmon. It's great that he knows the system, but what good is it if he's too slow to execute his own assignments? It's like playing with ten men and a coach on the field.

Tullock will start at MLB if Thornton doesn't start and yes, he is playing MLB better than Sirmon and even looks impressive on passing plays.
