I doubt theyll keep him if Troupe, Kinney, and Scaife all come back healthy at 100%

 

Hartsock really has looked like a good blocker from what I've seen. If he brings something similar to Kinney, then I wouldn't be suprised if he's back. He is the antithesis of Troupe.

per that list, top efforts should be made to resign Jacob Bell, Robaire Smith, Drew Bennett, and probably Starks. I'm not sure about Rien Long's recovery but he was coming along OK prior to his injury and we still need help at DT and he might be viable option too.

I'd like to see Amano / Wade back also

 

Kinney is done

 

Kinney will probably not be back. Just a guess.

I think Bennett, Wade, Smith, and Nickey return. Tony Brown is a keeper, at a low contract, though, of course.

Sirmon is gone. Bockwoldt had been a starter in New Orleans. Amano stays because Piller will be gone. Bell will clearly get an extension. They could wait another year on Starks, but he is clearly worth keeping as well. I think Reynolds is gone. Nande just got activated, which means little, but I can't recall seeing Reynolds playing at all this season. If we got no one in FA or the draft at TE, I can see Hartsock and Cramer returning. Not sure who I'd take first. Hartsock has some ability. Cramer is a nice H-back type. I can see Hartsock backing up Troupe, Cramer backing up Scaife. But it's hard to figure. Bunch of young guys at that position.

Long -- it depends on his injury.

I'll also note (Amano v. Amato) Amato is listed as a LB as well as LS (long snapper).

 

We may have a bit of a log jam at DT. Brown could have the upper hand from what I've seen.

I wonder if Wand is a E.R.F.A. like Brown.

 

Wand is probably an UFA. I think he was with the Texans for long enough. But it's possible he'll just be a RFA (without looking up his career numbers).

Basically, if you have spent 4 years in the NFL, you become an unrestricted FA once your contract expires. After 3, you are a restricted FA. After 2 or less, you are an exclusive rights FA.

As for Brown and the DT rotation, we could have a lot of change at the position. He, Starks, and Mahelona are the only guys guaranteed to be back for training camp. We'll just have to see who is on the roster come August...

 

What's up with Kinney's injury? I never realized that it was that bad.

Starks would've been on the way out earlier this year, but he's played well the last month and may have gotten himself a roster spot for next year.
