    She's Everything - Brad Paisley

Paisley is good. I like this song in particular. There are some others he has that I have heard and like as well. Alcohol is a fun song... but She's Everything really hits home with me... maybe he's describing most every woman that's worth having... that song is a real panty dropper.

    edit:

I found the above looking around a few minutes ago... yeah, that Paisley guy sucks on guitar. :sarcasm: anyone can do that... even Kermit schools him.

There's no way to say this without making it sound snobbish, so I'll just spit it out. The fans of contemporary country music are not generally what you would consider fine music connoisseurs.

Now let me qualify that statement. They don't have to be and there's nothing wrong with that. Yes, country music is formulaic, overly emotional, saccharine, sometimes trite, etc., but we all listen to music for different reasons. Some people like their music to be experimental, different, noodling instrumentally. Others like theirs predictable and in nicely wrapped 4 minute packages.

If that's your bag, go to it... just don't make me listen ;)

Alright, if you guys are what has been phrased as "fine music connoisseurs", then you would be able to recognize that there are great aspects to all types of music. I love rap and hip hop when I need that sexy energy, I listen to rock when I am chilling, and I like country (a recent development) when I need to feel like music actually relates to real life (esp. b/c I live in the south). I listen to classical music as I played violin for years, I listen to jazz sometimes too. Music should be appreciated in its many different art forms.

Plenty of them out there. Personally, I think 90's rap was bad. Real bad. Todays pop rap is worse. Thing is, back in the 60's and 70's music didn't have near as many artists and that's why it's hard to see bands that will be timeless these days.
But bands like Thrice, Brand New,Underoath and even Taking Back Sunday will be the new schooler's classics. Last gen had Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.
Then you've got the metal kids. Slipknot's been here and isn't going anywhere. Same with Mudvayne.
The talent pool is just too big for it's own good in a way. back in the 70's everyone was listening to the same 20 artists. Not much to choose from so you'd listen to a single band for months before going to another.
Now, I forget bands that I even like because I find a new band I like every other day.

    Indie Rock
    Alternative
    Emo/Screamo/post-hardcore
    Metal
    Pop-Rock

So much depth just within rock alone. Same with other genres. I don't like dated music much, but most people stick with what they knew in their teens-twenties it seems. It's hard for me to go back and listen to nirvana, silverchair, etc now with all the new stuff I hear though. Just too much of it.

That's an interesting point, and I really hadn't thought of it that way.

I guess I just think of The Beatles, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd... and I think of listening to those bands with friends and girls in college.

I'm just wondering what will survive from the 2000s, that 18 or 19 year old college students will be listening to in 2025?

Maybe it's just me, and I just like the classic stuff more than my peers.

Some people just can never let go of nastalgia. Teens and twenties are peak periods in the lives of most.

I've had the misfortune of having to jam with a guy in his late forties/early fifties...he can't keep up at all with anyone because he's STILL listening to early Dylan and early Beatles.

This is a real romantic song... I really like this artist. He has another tune called "Good Directions" but in my short time here this morning I don't have a few minutes so maybe I'll be able to locate a suitable version later. Just the same... this is more of that gooey stuff the ladies eat up. This one just makes me want to lock the doors and turn the lights down low, but that's another song all together. Not real sure, but I think that's Josh Turner. That's just for another post. In the past month I have figured something out about country music... (just in case you are new to the thread I am a Johnny come lately counrtry fan)... country music will get you leid. :ha:
