Civil law and criminal law are distinct. An employer can be sued for ANYTHING by and employee. There are many labor laws that insure against discrimination- racial, sexual, religious etc.

Pac could sue the NFL if they enforce harsher punishment for Pac for a similar incident with another player. The NFL is rife with examples of worse transgression that were "barely" punished. The ex post facto discussion plays also.

Additionally, since the league appears to be "changing their standard", they will be obligated to enforce it among ALL players in the future. Anything short of this could be subject to a future suit from Pac.

Of course you can be sued for anything. But just because you can bring a lawsuit, doesnt mean you are going to win. And yes, discrimination is certainly something that can be challenged and won in a court. But, again, how could discrimination apply to Pac Man? What is he being discriminated for? You cant possibly argue his color, since most of the players in the league are black, and most are not being suspended.

ANd yes, they should enforce it among all players, and I see no reason to think they wont. But you cant possibly sue a company because they decide to change their policy.

As an example if two players commit the same offense and Pac is suspended 4 games for example and then the other gets suspended for 2 games.
    Pac could argue discrimination.

I think that is what Riverman was trying to say.

Well that would be possible. But there would still have to be more to it than that to prove discrimination.

I think you are missing my point. If the NFL imposes a different level of punishment for Pac than other players, particularly one that inflicts large monetary damage, then Pac has grounds to sue the NFL. Would he win? Maybe, maybe not- depends on the arguments that arise. The NFL would certainly like to avoid a risky suit because the punitive damages would be high and a plaintiff's verdict would undermine the policy.

Now would Pac sue under racial discrimination versus other labor laws? I don't know. His lawyer would probably pick the one that the leagues enforcement appeared to violate the most.

Well under that scenario he could very easily have a case. But what I am saying is, at this point we dont have that type of scenario. We have a commissioner who is still new and is still getting his policies in place. You cant hold him to the standards of the old commissioner. So I dont really disagree with what you say, but that would be something that would have to come down the road, since we really cant say that is happening at this point.

I still think the discrimination would be tough though. And, not sure how the labor laws would really operate. Is Pac considered an employee in the state of TN with the Titans? Or the state of NY under the NFL? But labor laws in Tennessee are not very strict. Outside of discrimination of the obvious things that you have already mentioned, it is tough based on our laws to sue employers for being fired or for a punishment you receive.

They mentioned before that they would Give the commish All the details and answer any questions the NFL had as long as there would be No leaks to the media.... I Think that when this punishment comes down and Pac Take's it like a man, sit's on the sidelines and supports his team and stays the hell out of trouble.. I think He does deserve the chance to prove himself again... Sometimes you have to learn things the hard way and if he's hit the wall like he says and is tired of always being in *%#$ all the time, maybe that's what it took... Take the punishment and the lesson from this and You've got my support...

I'd say they all the commissioner is going to take in account is the Atlanta charges. The whole LV incident is going to have no affect. All they are trying to due is get Pac to admit who the shooter was. So if they did bring charges and with his good lawyer he would plea out of that one yet again. Remember Pac has yet to be charge with anything in any of his incidents so Probation would be a big option in that case. The the rutherford county judge can only impose his verdict if Pac gets charged in the Lv incident. The atlanta charge was before he was arressted in nashville so he can't use that against Pac. It all depends on all harash the new commissioner wants to be. But i agree with Ezpickin i think he should have another chance especially to prove what he said in the interview. That would be just as interesting as any football game to see if Adam Jones can stay out of trouble.
