7-2 is really looking good if the backup QB starts for the Jags.

we'll probably get a wild card birth into the playoffs and have to face the patriots

I know I've already commented on it, but this is a good thread. Sometimes stopping and looking at where we are in the NFL landscape is a good thing. For some reason this year, there are a ton of very bad teams, that haven't shown much hope, and there are a few very solid teams. We're one of the few middle teams so far, and really are on the cusp of breaking into the top. If the season ended today, we'd be #5 in the AFC, and play the Chiefs. I'd take that matchup right now. We'd probably then face the pats or colts, and then the other. The playoffs are going to be a hard run, even to reach the AFC championship. But we're in there as of right now, we just need to keep getting better throughout the season to be consistent enough in the playoffs to make a solid showing, and hopefully win a game.

If we get a wild card birth, we won't be playing the Patriots. Clearly they will get a bye along with the Colts. We'd probably have to play the winner of the AFC North or AFC West.

I like where we are and I generally like how we look. While we let 2 close ones slip away (and almost let a blowout slip away), we have looked much more consistent than last year. Vince hasn't shown any heroics, which is disappointing on one level but very comforting on another - he hasn't really needed to.

I like our chances at 7-2. Jax could go either way, but it is at home - not many of us thought we'd go on the road and beat them. Even 6-3 isn't bad, but 7-2 would give us the inside track to the playoffs with a sweep of the divisional opponent we're most likely competing with for the wildcard. The offense has to come together, but (at the risk of sounding like Fisher) it seems like our problems now are very correctable. We've got the #5 rush offense and the #1 rush defense. The secondary has shown weaknesses, but it isn't killing us. Passing game is struggling but improving, and the receivers are starting to make plays. Any way you look at it we're better than last year. Another decent offseason or 2 and we should be dominant again.

It helped that the Jags lost to the Colts, since the Titans currently have the tiebreaker over Jacksonville if the two teams tie for a playoff spot. Hopefully Tennessee can go 3-0 in these home contests, although none of the opponents are a pushover.

Hopefully VY and the Titans as a whole step up their play. They have been WAY too sloppy with the ball the last few games. They are lucky to have gone 2-1 in the last 3 despite turning the ball over TEN times in those 3 contests. They also need to do a better job of playing the whole 60 minutes. Aside from the Saints' win, all of Tennessee's games this season have been decided by 7 points or less (and 4 of the 6 by 3 points or less), so there isn't much of a margin for error with this team.

now that j ville has no qb for a couple weeks indy and us should stand alone at the top of the divsion. i say we can win the next 3. i expect vy to come out and be hungry after sitting a week and have a good game.
