I don't know about jewelry but I'm sure putting his folks in a free house worth hundreds of thousands of dollars isn't exactly typical. You know.. ALL is a pretty all encompassing word. Just like all Tennessee residents are ******* hicks.. that's just a stupid generalization as is what you have posted.

No, I'm not kidding. Which way would like to compare the two? It's hard to say stats, because they play different positions in different conferences, but you could definitely that Vince put up stats that were at least as impressive as Reggie. Sure Reggie was more popular and made Sportscenter more often, but he also had a team that was a lot more talented. Vince basically won most of Texas' games almost singlehandedly. You can argue all you want about his pro passing ability, but I don't see how you can say Reggie was undoubtedly the best player in college football that year.

All isn't that much of an exaggeration in this situation. How do you think they're all-oops, I mean 99% of them are wearing LRG hoodies, diamond ear rings, driving 40,000 dollar cars, etc?
I know guys that play for UT that aren't even good and as Freshmen are pushing brand new Suburbans on 24 inch wheels. They don't have jobs. How does this happen?
I know a certain Virginia Tech player that rides in a 55,000 dollar vehicle minus his 20,000 dollar mods he has. No job. How is it possible?
There's a Cal player that wears diamonds on each ear bigger than any our wives own. On game day. He doesn't work. So what's paying for this? His lower-class qualifying mother? lol doubtful.

Go watch players leaving from a football practice on a major campus. I bet most of them have nicer rides than you. It's not a coincidence.

I say pay them all. It's not like they don't make money for their institutions, all they are is glorified farm teams for the NFL. Before you give me that crap that they are getting a free education, how many would even be there if it wasn't for football? How many truly have the discipline or the desire for an education? Billions of dollars are made by the universities as a whole from exploiting these kids abilities.

The ideology of an amateur athletics is noble, but even the greatest arena for "ameteur" athletics has been abandoned in the quest for money. The olympics are supposed to be a celebration for amateurs, yet look at all the advertising, corporate monies, and just greed that has replaced it.

Olympic basketball, hockey, you name it, have all been supplanted by pros and money.:tj:

The reason people say they shouldnt be paid is because they're getting an education for free, so they're basically being given money already. But even if so, then why not pay them regularly?
They're getting cars from dealers. They just put them in someone elses name and think of the car as loaned to the player.

Are they really getting an education? How many graduate? Do they get free passes for their grades in the same vein as the "loaner" cars? Just rewarding them by giving them unearned degrees because they play a sport is a diservice to the kids and our nation. It cheapens our educational system. Pay them, then if they want to pursue an education they have the means to do so.
