Maybe I've been too critical of VY. Sure, he isn't a good passer, but my main beef with him has been that he doesn't use the talent he has (running ability). He's been sitting in the pocket, and forcing himself to pass even when he has plenty running room. He did scramble a bit Sunday, but it was the most we had seen in a while.
But what I wonder is this; Could he be saving his body early in the season, not taking any needless hits, and waiting til we desperately need wins or even until the playoffs? As long as we're in good standing in the playoff picture, I can see him continuing to play this way, but once we either need a win to secure a spot or get in, I think we'll see an entire different player.

If we can keep winning until the Colt's game and they lose another game, it could end up being a very interesting last game of the season for these reasons: It'd determine home-field advantage and Vince might start opening his skills kit.
Just a thought. Maybe VY is smarter than any of us think.

  2. Ding Ding Ding!!!!! You guys are being to harsh on VY. He knows what he is doing, trust me. Haven't you noticed this year when he does take off to run that he sees someone coming and either goes outta bounce or slides down. If this was last year he would have ran through people. He knows that he has a defense that can win the game and a run game that can win the game for him. Sure he throws picks, but its like pratice for him. He throws the ball knowing he has a defense that can stop anybody so he takes a chance. Sometimes it will work sometimes it won't. You saw this against the Colts he started to run during the last 2 minutes of the game trying to get us back at least into field goal range. And And!!! If he had finished that tampa game we would have won or either vince young would have taken over the game. This year Vince Young hasn't had to get us back through a lot of games because our kicker is good and our defense is I think number 1 in the league. Just wait till VY takes over a game when it counts or when we are done. Then he will start running trust me. He hasn't had to use his legs so he takes chances and throws the ball.

No he doesn't... and if you honestly believe that statement, you're not watching the games.

He definitely has to get his head right first. The Carolina game was a good first step. Personally, I hope he tears it up against Jacksonville. That game for sure needs to be a "nail in the coffin" type of affair.

I've watched the games, and I see a second-year QB trying too hard. He's working through mistakes, but he certainly has a clue out there, mechanical flaws aside. He's made some dumb throws out there, but he's far from clueless.

Did you watch the games where he gave us 8 wins and a chance to make the playoffs? C'mon guys quit downing him, Vince is a winner, whether your tired of hearing that he is truely a clutch player and can only get better as the season comes along....

So, please tell me: just what, exactly, do you see in VY's personality that would lead you to believe that he was somehow wanting to "hold back"?...that he would deliberately avoid actually playing a good game in front of the home crowd or national TV?
