Are the Chargers playing bad because Norv Turner is a loser? Most likely. Did Wade Phillips get more out of their defense? Obviously.

Why are the Cowboys 10-1? Wade Phillips is coaching the same team Parcels built. Looks like they want to play harder for Phillips than they did Parcels.

  2. Norv Turner has been a poor head coach everywhere he has gone. Schwartz has had both good and bad defenses in Tennessee. So that comparison doesn't hold water.

Romo is the big difference between this year and last, not coaching. Though if you'd like to use your argument to suggest that Bill Parcells is a mediocre coach and was holding the Cowboys back whereas Phillips is an elite coach and coaching is the difference between this year and last, go ahead and try...

  3. No one has ever said anything about Schwartz being a great coach, just not nearly as bad as some people make him out to be.

As for the talent that the Patriots have lost, the key for them has always been their depth. They continually find excellent players in the draft or bring in veterans from elsewhere. When they lose Ty Law, they have Asante Samuel waiting to take his place. When they dumped Lawyer Malloy, they replaced him with Rodney Harrison. When McGinnest left, they had Rosie Colvin.

Last year was their first big letdown when their WR corps was a wasteland. So what did they do? They added Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Donte Stallworth, and Kelley Washington. Those addition to their on-field talent, in addition to Adalius Thomas, is the reason they are dominant this year.

No, they are undefeated because they are playing better. They are obviously better because they are insanely dominant. Last year they won by an average of 9 points per game. This year, they are winning by an average of 25 points per game! That is absolutely unheard of in the NFL.

Again, no one is suggesting that our coaches are as good as New England's. But you have yet to explain how their coaches have improved themselves by an average of over 2 TDs per game from last year. Is Belichick that much better of a coach this year than last?

Or for that matter, how can you explain how Jeff Fisher's record can go from 8-8 3 straight years to 13-3 twice in a row, then run the gamut from 4 wins to 12 wins in the 6 following seasons. Explain that without it being about the personnel on the field...

What years would those be? Obviously he's riding AH success this year.2003? When Heimerdinger's Offense was putting up points early and often and teams had to abandon the run. I dont think you will find to many people that will say Schwartz has fielded a good defense, much less a great one.

Kinda hard to develop a defensive scheme that can compensate for piss-poor tackling, poor angles, and subpar performance overall.

    What years?

Grading the defense in the schwartz era...

    2001-C
    2002-B
    2003-B
    2004-D
    2005-C
    2006-D-
    2007-B+

Final grade point average 2.1.. This year saved him.. Some could argue that a B grade for 03 was too low given how we played in the playoffs but that 03 team was loaded with talent. In 04 our whole team including the defense did not play well the first half of the year when we still had most of our players and before the injuries..
