The D did good enough to win, but after the first couple times SD had receivers wide open we did nothing different, so there were about 6-8 times they had receivers WIDE OPEN...

I, for one, am excited by what this overachieving Titans team managed to do this season. Who would have put them in the playoffs at all when the season began? To play a team like San Diego as well as they did on defense is huge. The league's leading rusher was very nearly completely stymied. In the end, the Chargers offense pulled it out. But, this is one of the higher powered offenses in the league. All the Titans lack is a few pieces on offense. Reinfeldt, Fisher, and company will address this during the offseason. And, the '08 Titans will give us another great year of football. I am going into my offseason life with much love for the Titans and the game.
    See y'all in the fall.

p.s. to all you gloom and doom nay-sayers: life is so much better and so much easier when you focus on the solution, not the problem. And, when you are part of the solution, not the problem.

We didn't lose because of Vince Young or the defense. We lost because our o-line for some reason just can not figure out how to block the 3-4 defense. I think that people are overrating our o-line because really those guys are all 2-3rounders. Not one first round pick. When we played the chargers the first time, we struggled, when we played the jets we struggled. Vince Young didn't have any time to get the ball out in that 2nd half. You wonder why Vince Young doesn't find the open man in time its because of our o-line they get beat and our recievers aren't even in their routes yet. All you thinking Collins would have led us to a W are crazy. He would have been killed on Sunday. At least Vince Young's legs got him away from 5-6 sacks yesterday.
If you wanna put blame on anyone it starts with the o-line. It may seem like they are giving VY time, but don't let your eyes fool you. We need o-line help.
Go watch that game and see how many times the Chargers team was beating us to the snap count. I know we missed 2 guys, but Mawae and Olson played those first games and they still were getting owned by the 3-4. Its the blocking schemes and we need lots of work on it.

Also why is the paper making up lies about Stephen Tulloch? They are saying he left to celebrate thinking he stopped Lt and costs us a touchdown. When thats not even right. Tulloch stoped LT in the air (Tulloch got hops) and then went around to pull LT back from the goalline, he never left. But this wasn't supposed to be a touchdown when you clearly can see LT's teammate pushing him into the endzone. Isn't that illegal to do? Isn't the same as leveage on a field goal try? That should have been our ball at the 15 yard line because of the foul.

Also You may be thinking how in the world the did the Chargers get so wide open? Its not the D-coord. fault. Its the players. The defense Jim called was very good. Its just Finnegan wasn't in the game mentally. He was too high on emotion after that sack and int. You didn't see them picking on Harper did you? This is why he was a 7th round pick and I know he still is learning, but he let it get to him and didn't think straight. Finnegan at best is a nickel corner. Michael Griffin for a rookie played really really well. Likewise Lowry.
Most of the long passes all go down to Finnegan. Not Jim. The Chargers didn't do any anything different or change anything at halftime. We shut them down first half. Even without a pass rush that first half. Finnegan let it the succes of the national stage get to him.

Next Year--- Pac-man and Harper need to be starting corners Hope and Griffin at safety
We need to trade/draft/free agency pick a play making wide out.
Get another OLB. Keith Bulluck sorry to say is losing a step and I don't know how long he has.
    Get another DT/DE
    Find a true o-line man.

All in All it was a good year. Vince Young is gonna be a great QB. He is learning the game and I think next year his 3rd year will be great with lots of high touchdowns and low INT ratings. GO Titans. SEE YALL NEXT YEAR.

Man, LT got a TD on second effort. Ed Hochuli got it right. Get over it. It would have been nice if Tulloch would have been able to grap him as he slid off the pile, but he didn't... LT wasn't down... he extended for the score.. he got it.

It was a good challenge.. but c'mon man...

Also, Finny had an awesome game. He's the real deal. You must be on crack if you think Harper should start over him. Go back and look at the tape. On the big pass plays it was the safety play that was missing the assingments more than anything. I'm not saying Finny never made an error but you are really trying to hang way too much on a great young corner.

Next year with Finny opposite Jones... watch out. They will be the best pair of corners in the league.

  5. Go watch the game again. When the O-line blocked. Vince Young had time to find his recievers and get the ball to them. When they didn't block he would have to throw it up to a reciever who wasn't even in his route for most of the time and it would either be an int or incomplete pass. The o-line for the Titans is overrated. They couldn't even block the Colts 3rd teamers.

Also I know you guys are righting Chris Henry off as a bust and saying he has no vision, but its not just VISION. To me when Chris Henry runs he is running too fast. He hits the whole to fast before the holes even open up. He is faster than people will believe. When you watch him run, you can see him at the o-line before the lineman can even find a guy to block. Its not vision he needs its Patience. He needs to turn down his speed a bit and let the hole open up. This is easily fixable with time and effort. He is a keeper. When you see him on on kickoffs he can't slow down enough and then just falls down into the other team. Its like me running at full speed down a hill at someone and trying to stop myself before I can get to them. Chris Henry will be a stud. Just gotta turn down that speed.

So I make comments about a couple of our defensive players... It can be argued that Finny didn't play well, because some plays.. well, he sucked... I make comments about Tulloch and officials...
so you tell me to watch the game again and ramble on about our offense...

Chris Henry has been better as of late. That ain't sayin' a whole lot... After his rookie contract is up he will be gone. He isn't going to be anyone in this league.. and btw... you pretty much defined vision/lack thereof... somewhere in the muddle whatever point you had about Henry was lost.

  7. Oh, er, I thought Henry was a little slow this past two games compared to his previous games before the suspension. You can see he was told to be more patient on returns, but he looked too tentative.

  8. I'm not bashing Finngean at all, just saying he got caught up in the game too much and what he was doing and losing focus of what he had to do the rest of it. I like him a lot and think he is a true starter.

I'm just saying why in the hell are titan fans saying for us to draft a QB? WHY? When we have our guy. Vince Young is gonna be really special in this league. The o-line didn't do anything special this game. They weren't "owning the trenches" like many were thought to believe.

Example--Our First drive we have the ball their 15 its 3rd and 7. Vince Young is out of the shot gun. As you see the Chargers 2 defensive ends get a real good jump and our right tackle and left tackle get beat and force Vince Young to roll out and get out of the pocket and he can't find nobody open because the guys aren't even in their routes yet. This only leads to 3 points when it could have led to more.

Look at the drive right before half-time Vince Young was passing the ball really well. Because the o-line gave him time. Led it to a field goal.

The pass that Vy got intercepted on was because the o-line broke apart, Vince Young tired to step into his throw and it got picked.

    Theres your problem folks---------O-LINE

Wait a minute, aren't you saying here he needs VISION? That's what Vision means, right? Knowing when to and not to accelerate where and at what time, correct? Being able to see the hole isn't there yet and let it develop? Face it the guy has no vision. Sure the kid can put some yards on Houston or Oakland, but everyone else he's faced he did lousy against. Even in the Houston and Oakland games the holes were so huge, you'd have to be blind to miss them. I'm not writing the kid off, yet, but he's got something to show to all of us next year if he doesn't want to be labeled a bust. I'll say one thing, though, it was painful watching his KO and punt returns yesterday.

One more thing: You could say his vision is very lousy, by looking at the colts game. How in the hell does a 300 pound Dlineman on special teams make it down the field in time to deliver the hit he did on a speedy RB? Henry practically ran into him. :(

I agree, but what I think you're talking about is awareness. That may come with more and more playing time.
