averaging 4.6 yards a carry for his career with 42 touchdowns seems pretty good to me.

He offers plenty as a RB. He offers speed, versatility, and overall quickness, not to mention great hands to throw to from the backfield.

RB's don't just run, contrary to popular belief.

Thats why Stephen Jackson is one of the most valuable backs in the league. All-purpose yardage.

he's also an every down back.

we'll be telegraphing our plays if chris johnson can't run between the tackles.

so you know exactly how johnson is going to be used? I'd really like to see where you're getting that information. Westbrook is an every down back now, but he hasn't always been, he's been in the league since 2002 but 2004 was the first year he led the team in carries or had more than 120 carries, he didn't break 200 carries in a season until 2006 and didn't break 1000 rushing yards until that year. Westbrook has always been used as an x-factor for the Eagles like we're talking about using Johnson and Johnson has the benefit of not having to be the featured back, he can just be that extra weapon. And as for telegraphing our plays, I see him taking the field with LenDale on a lot of plays either in two back sets or lining up as a reciever, at least that's what I'm hoping we do with him.

You don't know how chris johnson is going to be used.

That being said, if he is used in the reggie bush capacity, we all know that Lendale White and Reggie Bush combined to make one of the best RBBC tandems ever in college football. The way they were seamlessly spelled by each other at the right time was perfect for USC. It might be perfect for us too.

    does jeff fisher qualify?

“We are going to plug him in whenever and wherever we can because we know he is a playmaker,’’ Coach Jeff Fisher said. “He has world-class, difference-making speed, which is what we need in the offense.’’

westbrook was also taken in the 3rd round. if we take chris johnson or jamal charles in the 3rd round, i'd probably be relatively happy about it.

i just don't think you pick a guy in the first round who is going to be a part-time player. we're not that talented of a team to have that luxury.

you missed everything else he said bigtitan. and mine.

If that is the case, why is that a bad thing?

Jeff Fisher sums it up. We are going to put him in anywhere, because "we know he is a playmaker" Same thing Brian Westbrook does.

    edit:

You wouldn't have taken Westbrook in the 1st?

If we knew he would be like this, he would have gone top 5.

Exactly. First rd picks need to be able to step in and contribute immediately. We really didn't need a running back for this.

Oh well I hope he pans out. The only other option is to start rooting for Jax who look to be a power house next season. ( i would never but they do look alot better than last season )
