Taken way out of context. Which is eactly what 60 minutes wanted you to do. Don't be a dummy. When taken in context, the quote is actually a positive. You are falling for media tricks.

Whether or not we're taking that one particular quote out of context, I think it's pretty ignorant to say that Vince doesn't have a bit of a hard time with criticism. We've all seem him make a bad play, come to the sidelines and listen to the coaches for a few seconds, and then go sit on the bench and pout.

I don't think it's at all unfair to say that I hope he has matured enough to handle Dinger's criticism the right way.

Is it not ignorant to make a claim about something with no substance? Name an example of a time, and being hacked off about making a bad play is not a good argument. I have no problem if he is angry after throwing a pick. Now if he was screaming at coordinators, that would be a problem. What leads you to believe that he has a had time with criticism? I have always heard that he is very coachable. Is someone saying something different?

A agree... what some would call pouting, I believe is frustration in himself. I think he is one of those personalities that doesn't like losing, at all. He is harder on himself when he throws a pick than the coaching staff or the fans. As athletes mature they learn how to recover from mistakes a lot better.

Anyone remember how Jordan used to be a jerk? Grabbing team mates bye the neck etc. But he was a marketing Gold mind, so people looked past it and said, he has a lot of passion for the game.

Vince's "quote"/"unquote" pouting is him being too hard on himself.

Also Vince may be a bit sensitive when he is criticized by the media, fans etc... again, he is a young athlete, and human. He has been told he wouldn't make it, most of his young career... In College he was very scrutinized up until his Jr. Year. He had higher expectations, than his #1 Recruit in the Nation title, and people were considering him a bust/over-rated etc. Just like his first few years in the league. I don't care if you have RHINO Skin... after a while if all you hear is "he has potential....But", "he's a bust", "running QB's cant", "He got his OC fired", "He can't play under center", "Worst QB in the leauge", "The Defense wins the games in spite of him", "he will never" ....Etc... Etc.... Etc... The Strongest of mature men, would get a bit sensitive, its human nature... So can a young guy get a pass for being a bit touchy?

First, you did take the quote out of context there's nothing really to argue there. I still don't know what you want him to do when he makes a bad play. You're trying to make a point that he doesn't take criticism well but this does not argue that point at all. It's not like he goes and "pouts" because the coaches criticized him says. He goes and sits down because he's mad at himself not because he can't handle criticism. So can you explain to me how this example shows he can't handle criticism?

    Two things.

First, if his quote "Can't nobody tell me nothing" was in response to mention of his critics saying what he can and cannot do, that doesn't mean he cannot take criticism. The critics they would have been speaking of are not coaches, they are people like Merril Hoge. And the phrase 'can't nobody tell me nothin' and others similar are very common responses in the young urban (black) vernacular. So anybody who took it as Vince not being able to take criticism is way more ignorant than the person who thinks otherwise.

Second, if Vince couldn't handle criticism, he wouldn't be where he is today. He's been criticized his entire football career. Those who watched him go from HS to the University of Texas heard it, and then while he was at Texas he was criticized. You know what that criticism did? Motivated him to be one of the best College players in history.

"Some people, like Merril Hodges keep saying"

Was all Vince needed to say to let us all know he can't take criticism.

Except that the original point was that he couldn't handle coaches telling him what to do, and Hoge, or his comments have absolutely nothing to do with that.

I saw his "can't tell me what to do" comments are positive, reminiscent of when he was drafted and the Houston media asked what it would be like to have to sit through the first losing season of his life, and he said "We aren't going to have a losing season" and the entire room started laughing. He sat there with a dead serious face and told them to watch. I think that is the mode from which he was speaking--you can't tell me what I can and can't do--just watch. It had nothing to do with not being able to handle coaching. It might have been considered inarticulate, but implying that it was anything other than that is "ignorant".
