Or testdrive with no obligation to buy--and be able to test your qbs as well with a decent WR. Better than Chris Henry.

Giving up a second to test drive is a complete waste and pure idiocy.

We are 5-0, and the offenses we have beaten have been

    Jacksonville
    Cincinnati
    Houston
    Minnesota
    Baltimore

Currently none of those are in the top 12 in offense. When we get into the playoffs we will likely run into teams that have some offensive firepower.

I'd like to give our defense the ability to have a lead, or if we get down 2 scores, a possibility of coming back.

I couldn't think of a better scenario letting us "rent" a player for 1/2 season...not even having to commit a multi year deal and then find out he doesn't even fit. This way if he doesn't work out, it's not going to hurt our chemistry on defense...but the chance of someone like Roy Williams coming in and turning our 25th ranked offense into maybe a top 15 would make this team a dominant one.

There is a risk involved with anyone. I believe the potential reward greatly outweighs the slight risk involved.

It's no more risky/smarter than hoping a 2nd round draft pick will do the same, at least the pick will get a few years to prove himself.

And let's face it, if we do trade for Williams, he won't fully get the playbook without an offense, so he is also handcuffed by that issue as well. Half a season isn't a good indication on whether Williams will be a benefit or not.

besides, Williams wants to be a lion, and the Lions want williams, hes not even technically on the block.

Have we not drafted enough receivers the past 2-3 years to give them a chance to prove themselves? A proven success at that position is the one free agent spot we must fill. Someone like Jason Jones can be successful because of the players he is surrounded with. He doesn't have to be a playmaker himself.

I'm one of the biggest supporters of building a team through the draft and not having to pay free agent money to a big time player, but I believe this position, on this team is an exception.

We are firmly on the road to be talking about this same issue 3 years from now.

I'm not saying they would do this, because there's no way in hell. We can talk about it, AH can talk about it--we all know it makes no difference. They're going to draft a WR in the 3rd rd next yr, or if we're lucky use that 2nd pick on one. While Roy Williams, Anquan Boldin will look like mighty good alternatives to who we draft (and the larger issue is that with the shaky qb play, we won't know whether it is the WR or the QB--that's why we need a WR with a track record and minimal doubt about his capability). Randy Moss and Chris Chambers worked out pretty well last year. And if we got someone worth a damn it's not like we couldn't sign them.
