too high of a price imo. As much as I want a premier wide out, it's simply not worth those picks + a contract

What a crazy trade. I saw it on the ESPN ticker, and I immediatly started cusing out MR, until I saw a 1st (wow, too much), a 3rd (WTF?) and a 6th (huge overpaying). I wish we had gotten Boldin, but we would have needed to give up two firsts for him at that rate.

Romo, Felix will be back in about 3 weeks. Pac is probably done for the year. Jerry Jones is panicking that his D is going to get torched w/ Pac out like they did last year (they got torched w/ him in there) and that they are going to have to win games w/ the offense.

This trade smells of desperation but I think it actually will work out well for the Cowboys. Their offense should be very difficult to force into one dimension.

But let's be fair as well, they're going to end up in the playoffs, so closer to the same value as early 2nd, early 4th--it's not like they're giving up a top 10 pick, and they're getting someone who has the potential to make their offense special once Romo comes back.

I used to be on the don't touch draft picks side, but I think your chances of busting on a trade pickup are at least the same (and probably less) than choosing from a field of guys about whom you have no evidence how well their game will translate to the NFL. Personally, if giving up the 28th pick and the 125th pick means Roy Williams is going up for a long pass instead of Justin McCareins, I'm giving up the 1st rd. pick (don't care much about the 4th--who'd we pick up for McNair? Chris Davis, LeRoy Harris?). But it's a mute point now.

    Roy Williams, WR DET
News: It's official: The Lions have traded WR Roy Williams to the Cowboys for first-, third- and sixth-round picks in the 2009 NFL Draft. Both the Lions and Williams have been adamant, especially of late, that a trade wasn't coming, but the Cowboys have stepped up in an effort to improve their receiving corps. Williams will eventually join a talented and up-tempo offense that could use his help to draw coverage away from Terrell Owens.
