I know squat about torrents, but I may have a need for trying that stuff out. I bought the new Metallica cd, and unfortunately the sound quality sucks. Now it's been remixed for Guitar Hero 3, and I've read it sounds much better and can be dl'd through a torrent. Anyone want to school me on the stuff or point me where to go?

    Thanks!

    yay! illegal download!

you bought the cd and you want to illegally download it in an attempt to get better sound quality than the studio cut? did you ever consider that maybe Metallica's new cd sucks? :ha:

well, these wikis will tell you everything you want/need to know.

sign up for Demonoid, IMO it's the best thing out there for torrents. If you need a code to sign up give me a PM. You can't sign up without one, it keeps the fuzz out of the situation I guess.

But of course, I only use it for legal, independent bands.:gag:

Just telling you now, no torrent will give you better than CDQ. Period. At best you'll have music files compressed just enough so that they sound very similar to what you'd get from a CD, but other than that, I think you should just keep the CD.

    You can find lossless rips.
falc is a goog alternative if you want CD quality.

Ya know what? I don't feel bad at all about it. I paid my money for their cd. They did a stupid thing in how it was mixed (or their producer/manager/record label/all of the above decided on it). I think I'm owed a better copy.

I think the songs are decent, I think the mixing/mastering method sucks. I should have thought of Wiki.

This is not the mix off the cd. This is a mix done for Guitar Hero 3. I know several musicians/audiofiles who have heard both mixes and all agree the GH3 one is much better. Someone wanted to throw a volley into the loudness war with the cd, which is too bad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Gmex_4hreQ

I'm not saying you should feel bad... I don't have a problem with your rationale either. I laugh because what Kami says is true. I just didn't put it like that. Maybe Slack has had better downloading luck than I... I don't know.. but I think you are going to be hard pressed to find something that tops what you already own unless it's something different.

why don't you get your hands on the source, in this case the video game, play the song and capture it. Then rip it to cd.

screw that. that would be too much to figure out.
