I watched every Akili game he played in and I'm sorry the comparison is legit. Young obviously has better legs and the team around him is/was infinitely better than anything Akili ever had to work with. Those numbers mean squat.
Neither one can/could conduct a drive with any confidence..

and BTW that's not what 'hater' means...

Rookie of the Year. Same as Matt Ryan. Vince Young is for real.

I'll just believe in the facts.

Vince has won rookie of the year. Vince has about 15 points higher average QB rating in a starting season compared to Akili. Akili's highest yards throwing in a starting season (really only had one) was 1200 yards. Vince through for 2100 in his rookie season and 2600 in his second year.

Add to that Akili's run game is NOTHING compared to Vince.

I don't remember what Akili had to work with, but I know what Vince has had. A bottom tier group of starting receivers, and no break away running back (since he didn't start with CJ except for one game).

I also know this, on Sunday, Vince threw 69% completion with his passes, for short yardage, got sacked twice, and made no turnovers. He also had 5 runs for 25 yards. All in a game that was mainly played by backups on both sides of the field.

Not a great game, nothing spectacular. Hardly the abomination that many are making it out to be.

And to me, that one game is NOT conclusive evidence that Vince will never be a good NFL quarterback again.

Would anyone consider a trade for the Texans backup QB? If he can stop the bonehead mistakes at the end of the game, he would be a servicble QB.

The piece of thread you are hanging onto is getting extremely thin. Like Sylvester Stallone in Cliffhanger thin.

I don't know about Akili Smith but I can see that Joey Harrington's numbers look maybe even better than Vinces' do.

This is the problem with Vince haters. Someone presents some logical arguements for why Vince isn't a bad QB and all they can respond with is saying the other person is wrong or just saying Vince sucks. If you're going to call his arguement "thin" tell us why it is thin instead of just saying that person is wrong.

3 out of his last 6 regular season starts, over 100 rating. Vince is getting bigger than ever. I look at the stats too.

On a run-based team you need a QB that can stretch the field and keep mistakes at a minimum thus keeping & containing field position which is this offense's entire focus. Keep in mind we're comparing Vince to an average QB who is servicing this team's defense. No one is saying Kerry is 'leading' this team, and I think anyone will tell you we still need an upgrade at this position to stay competitive.

    2007 Vince:
    9 TD/17int's (-8 or -1.88ratio)
    25 Sacks
    10 fumbles

    2008 Kerry:
    12 TD/7int's (+5 or +1.71ratio)
    8 sacks
    1 Fumble

Kerry played 1 game in 2007, we scored a season high 38 points. Vince played 2 games in 2008. He was shut out against the Colts, and had stats that were heading towards 2007 numbers in his season opener vs the Jags where he was booed off the field by about 20,000 fans, and tried to refuse coming back into the game (the same thing he did in his last game which happened to be a playoff game where he was again completely shut down).

It's clear one of these QB's knows how to keep mistakes at a minimum and one doesn't. You can't have all of those field change shifts which the fumbles, sacks, and interceptions give the opposing team and expect to win consistently. It's not possible. A defense simply can't bail you out EVERY GAME.
