Let Collins go. He's looking slower and slower and can't hit an elephant on the deep ball.

Collins had a nice year, but he CANNOT throw the deep ball, are you guys blind or what? If it wasn't for the O Line he would suck, as soon as there is a sign of a blitz he immediately throws the ball away before anything even develops, it's time for KC to retire, sorry.

Man when I suggested (openly hinted), at the start of the 2008 season that we needed to go after a QB in the 2009 draft I was greeted by a linch mob!
You can't gamble with a QB. You have to have one in place that is capable of going the distance. If he's not there, don't expect to go the distance. With Collins there's hope, with VY there's.......................what?
I look at training camp as just that, training. "Battling it out in camp" means very little once the season starts and another team shows up. How many times was our #1 WR discovered in week 2 of the season. How many times was our #1 WR pushed to #3 after week 2 of the season. If we do not have a capable QB in place week 1, don't expect anything.
Why draft one? Because Collins is our best hope right now and he's getting old. Get a rook on the sidelines and let him learn. AND draft some WRs and TEs.

I'm not really sure. Still tantalized by the potential, still leery of actually letting him play.

In his 4th year (2nd as a starter), McNair had a rating of 80, 19 total TDs to 12 total turnovers. I wouldn't call that a Top 10 QB, but if you want to, that's fine. The main thing is, that was his 4th year.

And he showed that he was a project. He had some great games (the Broncos game, every game against the Texans) and some crappy ones (Falcons game). That's no reason to give up on him.

And Vince is always hitting deep passes? The deepest pass he throws is a whole 5 yards over to the sidelines.

I think the most people know how I feel:

Simms needs to be cut asap. He doesn't deserve to be in the NFL. If he wasn't Phil Simms son, there is no way he is in the league right now.

Collins, let him walk. Unless he stays here for CHEAP. Collins isn't a champion, and while he helped win a few games for us during the season, he didn't help us when it mattered.

VINCE- 2009, make or break season.

I would sign a cheap vet as backup for Vince. Someone that could learn the system, and play if Vince gets hurt. That, and if Vince fails, we the vet-backup QB, that could start some of 2010, and of course we would likely draft a QB early that draft if Vince fails next season.

    So that's my forward thinking...

Wrong -- the Titans have already said they want to re-sign Collins. He has already said he wants to stay. And no other team is going to throw a bunch of $$$ at him -- at least not so much more $$$ than he will get from Tennessee that would tempt him to leave. The open starting QB (Detroit, maybe Minnesota, maybe SF) are not good situations for a guy at the end of his career because only Minnesota is a playoff caliber team, but they don't have good receivers either.

Collins played better yesterday than VY did in the playoff loss to San Diego, so I dout yesterday's performance would change the Titans' mind about re-signing the vet.

    1. The Titans receivers are almost never open deep. The don't get much separation.

    2. I don't think I have ever seen VY complete a pass longer than 20 yards that wasn't a short throw with a bunch of yards after the catch.

Collins will be re-signed and will be the starter going into training camp. The question is whether the QB spot is made an open competition during camp. If VY beats Collins out, then he'll start. But I have serious doubts that VY would beat Collins out -- Collins is still the better actual QB. VY's one advantage is his ability to use his legs. That's it.

Did you ever consider the Titans' receivers have a lot to do with the fact that the Titans struggle with the deep ball. Kerry Collins has been known throughout his career as one of the better deep ball throwers in the entire NFL.

He had 21 pass completions of 25+ yards this season (plus 1 yesterday). Last season, Vince Young had 13 pass completions of 25+ yards.

Since 2000, Collins has 192 pass completions of 25+ yards. That is the FIFTH most of any QB over that span, behind only Peyton Manning, Donovan McNabb, Brett Favre and Tom Brady.

So your assertion is just WRONG
