Well, I already own one....a 1993 Ninja, that is in about 200 pieces in my garage!

A friend of mine is selling his 2005 Yamaha R6 so he can get his bonus room finished. The bike has 1100 miles on it he hasnt rode it in over a year. It has never been dropped, garage kept, and is immaculate. It is like new. All that being said....he wants 6K for it. He says if it was not a good friend he would be asking 6500.

The NADA on the bike is 5850, but says that he should list it for 8200.

I went and test drove it today....and WOW. What a HUGE difference from that 1993 Ninja I was riding. I love it. I want to sleep with it.

My wife says go for it. I am waiting on a few things so I have about a week to decide. Just wanted to know what my Titan brethren think about it?

This is exactly what the bike looks like.

It doesnt make sense financually, Bikes are seasonal and are 98% Joy Rides.

I guess if you have 6k to buy a bike then go for it. I just think its a costly hobby in which most people end up selling them to get back out of the debt once the new feeling wears off. Gas usage is the only legit reason Bike Riders can use to make justice of the prices.

It's a cool bike and it's screaming attention if thats what youre looking for.

I once followed a bike to see where he was going, the dude never stopped anywhere. I dont think they should be on the street crowding the roads if the riders have no place to go.

the new yamahas are the best looking, no doubt. I've got a suzuki gsxr. Have you rode before? If not, i'd definitely get something around the 3k range used. You will drop it. No ifs.

My best friend. It's a 600, but good for a first.

Jessee -- Wow......I live in NC. It is cold here for about 2 months. But I understand your point. Have ever rode before? I have.....it is an amazing feeling. Now that I don't have a bike that rides, every time I see other riders I get jealous. Financially, I am doing ok, and besides. If something happens and I need to sell, most bikes go pretty quick.

Cruds -- Thanks man. No big dealers here.

Gloat -- Like I said, my first bike was a 1993 Ninja that I bought last summer. I rode it for a while, but then the thing crapped out. I busted a head gasket, plus it needs a lot of work anyways. I am going to fix it and then sell it. I honestly, never laid it down though. I am kind of worried about that, because that is what some people say. "you will lay it down". I dont want to lay it down...lol!!

My other buddy is talking about buying the R1, cause it is sooooo much faster than the r6. I just dont see when you are going to be going that fast where it is REALLY going to matter.

Bikes are definately a luxury expense but if you got the dough and your lady tells you to "go for it" then do it! I have a Yamaha Roadstar 1600.... My wife loves to ride with me. As for the season thing... If you want to ride you'll ride, period. We don't get very much snow here. It may be cold but they make plenty of accessoriess for that. I have a kid coming in May and will probably have to sell mine this spring... I hate it but I guess I've gotta grow up a little. Damn it!!!!:grrr:

Cool. Yeah, I saw you said you had the ninja. Just didn't know if you had rode it before it was in pieces.
Laying it down doesn't always mean you'll wreck though or drop it while on it. Most people get dings by it tilting over when they aren't even on them. That's what sucks.

I don't get why people need bikes that have tons of speed either. The way I see it, If I can beat a vette right now on something that doesn't have seatbelts, a windsheild (or much of one), etc...It's fast enough.

I know some friends that have Hayabusas. F that. They're beautiful, but that's a shiny death letter.

I love my Virago 750. I'm a cruiser kind of guy. Sport bikes kind of freak me out. I know my personality and I know that I'd end up going 160 mph or something on a bike like that... I really don't need to do that. I can push my Virago to 110 mph if I want to. I have done it... I fear what I'd do with more speed capability.

If anything I'd like a larger cruiser.. a 1500, Honda, Kawi, Suziki, Yamaha... really doesn't matter. I'm just not into owning a Harley. I don't want to identify myself with all those compensating middle aged men who compete with their wealthy friends over who can order the most expensive piece of chrome...

I like to actually ride my bike. If the road is a little wet I won't let that deter me from heading out. I'm not going to keep the thing in the garage for fear of getting it dirty. One day in about 5-10 years I'm going to move to a larger home and I'm going to end up getting a larger cruiser.

    I agree with this 100%.
I'd have a sportbike right now, except I've disallowed myself to have one. I fear that if I did have one, I'd either be dead or in jail within two weeks. I have an '05 Subaru STi and it's about as much as I'll ever need.

But if I ever get a sport bike, it'll be one of these:

Fuel is stored in the frame. Oil is stored in the swing arm, and it has the most innovative front disc brake system ever.
