Some of you guys are bashing vince for "wanting to leave the titans" when there haven't even been any reports of that. Even if he did want to leave why would you blame him.

His first year he has a great rookie season and turns our team from the 3rd worst team in the nfl to one game out of the playoffs. He follows that season up starting for a team that goes 10-6, I understand the defense was the main reason for that, but name me other starting qbs from 10-6 teams who lose their jobs no matter how they perform. In his 3rd year he's getting booed by his home crowd in the 1st game as his team is winning the game. Why would he want to play in nashville? It's a qb's worst nightmare. No elite qb would ever sign with the titans because they know it's a position that you can't thrive at.

I think vince may be done here but there's no doubt another team will pick him up and he'll get another starting chance somewhere. I think collins is actually a better fit for the style of game we are going to play but personally I don't think this style can win us the super bowl.

Not jealous by any means.......but it is a very tradition rich environment. What conference does TCU play in? The Big Sky?:moon2: j/k

but if you've never stepped foot inside the campus boundaries, you probably wouldn't understand. It's like going to a Notre Dame game and seeing the Golden dome or Touchdown Jesus. History. And when you're from Texas, all there is is Texas, it's the high standard.

    Childress...

Lemme see if I get this 'coach' straight.

VY is intellectually unable to read defenses. (Sounds like the knock on every black QB coming out of college. I thought guys like Doug Williams, Warren Moon, and Steve McNair had dispelled this theory. Guess not.)

UT had no playbook? I didn't see Vince drawing plays up in the sand on the sideline and they didn't run the same play over and over again...so....he's just bashing VY! I love impartial observations...

Last time I checked...all NFL starting QB's throw INT's due to bad reads or poor throws. So why would VY be any different?

And yes, young QB's tend to throw a lot of INT's and fewer TD's with the idea that by year 3 or 4 or 5 you should see a jump UP in TD's and a jump down in INT's. Young did better than expected in year 1 and fell back to earth in year 2 though he did have more high quality starts in '07 so he was making progress.

Young struggled with inaccuracy because of his footwork? Pretty amazing that a guy who starts his rookie year, is too dumb to understand a playbook, can't read defense, and is inaccurate because of poor footwork...could complete over 50% of his passes in the NFL and improve that completion percentage to over 60% in his second year. How does this guru explain this?

And he can't throw to a WR unless he's wide open? I think this coach just took out his early criticisms of McNair and reposted them. If this coach actually looked at all of his games, he'd find that there are times when Young throws the ball into tight windows for completions and other times when he doesn't attempt it. This is NOT unusual for a young QB in the NFL.

And if Young is unable to have anticipation, how has he EVER made a big passing play in the NFL. This guy claims Young CAN'T do it (which can be proven false) when he should be arguing he hasn't done it enough. Perhaps this guy just listens to Hoge 24/7...

This might be my 'favorite' paragraph...my comments in bold...

"The NFL uses much more complex defenses than college. REALLY? Most colleges use man and zone and some use a zone blitz. In the NFL, there are combination man/zone defenses, rotating zones, and dozens of multiple blitzes. COLLEGE TEAMS USE THESE DEFENSES TOO AND A LOT MORE THAN THAT! An NFL QB must be able to learn what an opponent does and adjust to it on the fly. He has to process this information, determine who will be open based on the coverage and get rid of the ball in no more than 2.5 seconds. THE NFL STANDARD IS 3.0 seconds!Young has not been able to do that and worse yet, he may never be able to."

I'm pretty sure Young has completed passes in the NFL...so how can this guy say Young has never been able to read the coverage and throw the ball in 3 seconds? In fact, I'm pretty sure Young has completed a few HUNDRED passes that dispel this gentlemen's claim.

PS - and one more thing...at the combine, teams ask QB's to draw protections, plays and READS for select plays out of their college PLAYBOOK. You really think a team would draft Young if he was like...we don't have a playbook, I don't read defenses, I'm just a superior athlete so I don't worry about that stuff?

    Jwill...

Only when you're 'dead' man isn't dead!

You seem to have a lot of inside knowledge of how the 'toss' around went. Could you list the patterns they practiced or didn't, how long they practiced for and whether or not they were standing still just having a catch and hanging out or anyone was moving...and if yes, how they were moving?

I was unaware VY doesn't lift weights, doesn't run and doesn't workout in any way. He was 6'5 and 240lbs as a true freshman? What did he bench as a freshman and when did you see him bench last? Same for running...what was his forty as a fresh and his forty now? Unless you're a coach or are a friend of his, I'd be surprised if you had ANY of this info let alone all of it. Suprise me!

So are you saying he shouldn't go back to a College where people like him and he feels at home? Did he skip training camp to hang at UT?

Some of your points have some validity in that could he have worked harder at being an NFL QB instead of spending time at UT taking some classes? Yes.

But you make it sound as if he's never run (off the field), never lifted a weight, never worked out, never thought about football in the off-season, and could care less about the Titans or playing in the NFL.

Again, unless you have intimate knowledge of what he does and how he prepares during the season and in the off-season, you're making a lot of assumptions...all negative.

Gut, people like the guy you quoted have their motivation for the things they say. This guy has probably watched very little of Vince Young if he's seen any of his game at all. When people attack the intellect of someone they have never met, it usually indicates an agenda.

The fryingpan blog guy also has an article on what will happen if theres no cap next year.

He's completely wrong in claiming that all bonus money paid to free agents and rookies this year can't be pro rated for the length of their contracts.

For example by his claims Washington will have to take a cap hit of $32million this season on Haynesworth alone.

I posted it thinking the guy was a legitimate journalist but it seems he's just a blogger and a poor one at that.

    Often, but probably not usually.

Your use of the words "usually" and "attack" indicate the possiblity that you have an agenda yourself. People ARE entitled to base their opinions of a celebrity on what they have seen in the media or in their performance because it is very unlikely that they will ever meet that celebrity in person. I believe we would agree that it often allows for an inaccurate impression, but I don't agree that there is usually a hidden agenda as I have inferred from your statement.

Doesn't it more often mean that they've done something so ridiculously dumb that people who don't even know them start talking about it.

    Well...

In this kind of context, I think he's right. When people start attacking a player from his football skills, leadership skills and work ethic and further makes stuff up about his college and it's program and then gets more personal about his intelligence...an agenda is the main reason WHY they put it out there. His agenda may be more innocuous in that he's just saying something wild to get more people to read his stuff and comment because they're outraged, but I don't think this is the case.

It is sad to see someone who has coached football up to a semi-pro level say such things...
