Moats was clearly distressed and genuinely cared for his mother in law.Now he's driving to hospital with a no doubt frantic wife who's desperate to get there in time.

That's not going to help you to be 100% rational.Everyone is different & we can't all be sure we'd have acted any differently unless we've been in the same situation.

Moats could have handled it differently for sure but so could the police officer. The difference in both parties for me is that a police officer with 3 years experience on the job would be expected to be more professional. He ought to be able to know how to talk a suspect into a calmer state and assess the situation better.

When your talking to someone who's irate or distressed, being antagonistic and raising your own voice will not calm the situation. He was a dick.

When Powell stated that 'if my mother was dying I'd be upset too' in my mind he'd already made up his mind that Moats was telling the truth inside of 4 minutes.Even so he kept him there for another 10.

Watching this video made me furious!!! The cop could have just went in with them and waited out in the hall, or he could have just left the ticket on his windshield. This cop should be ashamed of himself, he abused his power imo.

Incompetence is not confined to the police department and cops also should not get a free pass just because they are cops.
If I had an incompetent employee I would fire them. It appears on the surface that this individual does not have the proper skills to properly carry the authority that the has.

This officer's lack of judgement is a very STRONG statement of his abilities as an officer. Officers weild tremendous power because of the nature of their job. He was CLEARLY demonstrating narcissitic behavior and signs of a serious personality disorder in how he handled THIS case.

It would be negligent for his supervising officers NOT to thoroughly review the incident AND re-submit him to a psychological profile before reinstatement. The "re-assignment" line is total BS- just protectionism by his peers.

It's been blown out of proportion, the cop didnt kill anyone, he didnt shoot anyone, he didnt beat anyone, he didnt arrest anyone, a life wasnt taken due to the cops holdup.

All this fuss over a goodbye is over doing it imo. look at the big picture and not the drama on the film. I'm done with this story, and soon as the media is done with it, it's going to be history.

Having run-in's with police has nothing to do with it. I've been arrested before as well.

This is breaking traffic laws to rush to the hospital.

Are you honestly suggesting, that if one of your closest loved ones was dying in a hospital, that you would obey all traffic laws, and sit quietly in the hospital parking lot while the cop writes you a speeding ticket for 15 minutes while berating you??

If so, you are more respectful of the law than I. Because I would be out that car and in the hospital.

It's common sense to allow a person to visit a dying loved one. The cop already is a failure at serving the public.

More than that, he is a failure at life for behaving that way and not showing compassion to another person in distress.

Not this time- but this dude needs to have his head checked out to make certain that he could handle a situation that may be more critical or has direct life and death consequences.

What? Personality disorder where in the hell do you get that? You just made that up.

A cop has a traffic stop in which the driver isn't giving him the basic information you get in all traffic stops like a drivers license and insurance. WTF just give him what he asks for so you can be done asap!

I guess all cops have something of a God complex seeing that when they ask or demand that somebody do something they expect it to be done.

Did the cop put cuffs on moats and detain him fior an hour? Did he beat him? Taser him?

Given the value of a young man's career and a man not seeing his mother in law one last time i would take the the young man's career. You really think this man did enough to be destroyed?
