Sometimes I don't agree with your posts, but that is may be because I'm a VY supporter to a fault. But in this thread you have made very good points. I can see why some people are disappointed with the VY situation but I think it comes from the high hopes he brought out people after '06, but I'm confident he'll bounce back

VY came out in week 1 and threw 2 TERRIBLE picks before KC came in and made it look easy, he won the team in that game. VY has shown consistently that he throws more picks then TDs, and thats not what we need. I understand all that learning business, but this isn't learning time, this is crunch time! We have an opportunity to win big this year, and we lose a LOT of players on the defense next year. I don't want to blow this chance on an undeveloped, learning process QB. Gimmie the veteran with playoff experience and consistent numbers please

If you remember the Titans were winning were VY got hurt so KC did not win that game. And that veteran with playoff experience you mention did not throw a TD pass plus one pick in the game that mattered and the Titans lost. He did not prove he can take us further into the playoff. Plus during the season I watched as KC threw horrible passes that should have been picked off but didn't. In the end all I want is to both QBs be given the same chance to compete for the starting spot, if is KC, I will support the choice, but Jeff Fisher have to be fair.

neither QB is going to take us very far if the weight is squarely on there shoulders
the running game has to remain consistent, injuries or not
and the defense has to put pressure on the QB

I don't get the 'warm-and-fuzzies' with either under center in January

Technically Collins took us further into the playoffs. Vince = wild card weekend and done, Collins = divisional playoffs and done. Besides that, Collins produced something like double the amount of yards then Vince did in his playoff appearance.
But all these are kinda mute points (just like the "one and done" point of both QBs). The big thing for me is presence of each quarterback in the playoffs, and there Collins wins by a mile.
Collins in the Baltimore game looked the part and even with the one pick he threw he managed to put us in the redzone on 3 different occasions where other players fumbled away possesion.
Vince on the other hand (in the wildcard Chargers game of 2007), he seemed flat, discouraged and like he was giving up even before the game ended.

So in my mind if Collins plays at the same level this year as he did last year, then he is the best bet at QB to advance in the playoffs.

Collins job was to simply "manage the game" and rely on the great defense. However, Collins proved he can do more than just that and if the game placed on his shoulders he could do the job and get the win. VY is a playmaker but not as much as a QB as Collins is. ANd he was struggling and had the whole drama about killing himself. Benching was the best thing.

The problem I have with this is that Fisher doesn't ultimately get to make the decision to keep him around. It won't be Fisher looking over the numbers and trying to justify paying the backup QB more money than the starting QB. I think you're putting too much stock into that quote.

All that you stated is based on your perception of how each one performed more than facts, and that is just fine. A lot of the time when we grade players there is a lot of personal feelings involved. We want our favorites player to do well. By no means I'm trying to bash on KC, I just want VY to play well. And like the ones who bash him, sometimes it get the better of me. But we have to realize that we are not in control on who plays or not, all we can do he support our team or if someone follow a team because of one player, hope that player can do well when he is given a chance to play.

True. But that doesn't mean that my perception necessarily favours Collins either. I know that you can't compare the team we had in 07 to the one we had in 08 and that Young (without the mental breakdown) might have done equally well this last season. What I'm trying to say is that we know what we have with Collins, and the only thing that stopped us from winning that playoff game was ourselves... that's more then I can say for when Young led us into the playoffs last, where the offense seemed inept for most of the game.
