My take on Swine flu: I think it is a cover up for some terrorist attack being down played by the United States government to keep everyone from really going crazy. If it is really just another flu though I'm not worried to much. Normally when people catch regular flu their body kills it off with a temperature increase. With June/July approaching, I say were only in danger another few weeks anyways. If its airborne the hot summer days might kill it off. By the way who the hell is out there mixing pig disease with bird disease. Probably the jerk who invented AIDS. Damn monkey lover!

If they are terrorists, they are dumb. So why go after Mexico first then, hoping it will trinkle into the US? Wouldn't they go straight to LA, NYC, or DC?
    Think about it.
    This is just another SARS.
News media latches onto it, because fear=ratings.

It seems like every other year or so, we get another reason how we're all gonna die.

for example, how many people have died from Anthrax? Almost noone.
I'm not saying it's impossible for this to spread, but working up the whole country into a tizzy about this is really stupid.

The only reasons CDC and the WHO are concerned about this virus is that it's a strain similar to the H1N1 Type A Influenza strain that killed roughly 100 million people in 1918. That H1N1 strain also started off fairly mild, but became a rapid contagion early on (as this one appears to, although I don't personally view it as being as rapid as people seem to think), and then became incredibly deadly. Another thing is that it appears, at least in Mexico, that most of the casualties are from persons aged 22-45, which is a VERY bad sign this early for a new influenza strain. Vaccination for such things take a while to develop, so I would say that there could potentially be a fair amount of death from this strain.

However, the panic that these sort of things induce is a bit ridiculous. People need to take precautions as they always do. If you find out you have the symptoms of the flu, contact a doctor as soon as possible, rest, and stay away from other people. It's pretty simple. Whenever another Influenza strain comes around, people act like it's Ebola from the movie Outbreak. :ha:

    Stupid thread...

People find so many reasons to be afraid. America is probably the biggest scaredy-cat country in this world.

Everyone gets all worked up and scared so easily. It's sad.
