    I think it's just a combination of some factors;

    First, Rookie WRs always struggle. Rarely are they successful as rookies but there are exceptions.(Michael Clayton, Dwayne Bowe, DeSean Jackson, etc.) The hit or miss ratio is very high.

    Second, Dinger is very particular about whom he lets play in his system. I would venture to say that Lavelle Hawkins will be much more involved than Britt because of knowledge of the system and ability to play the slot. Even with injuries last year to Gage and McCareins, Hawkins rarely saw the field as a Rook.

    Last but not least, I have not been impressed with the ability to scout or develop talent from the WR position from the Titans as an Organization. Therefore, I may scrutinize a player coming in as a WR, because I would rather be pleasantly surprised than be extremely disappointed in year one.

    just my opinion.

    35 for 535 and 4 TD's

    that's about what T.O got and they are similar players style-wise.

    i think he'll get to play early but i doubt we get too pass happy with him this season. our rookie wr that get to play always get at least 20 receptions. and i think he'll play more than most because he is a first round pick. i think fish still gets crap for not playing rookies but he's done it the past 4 years.

    cook could get that many receptions but i was pretty sure dinger and fish said that he would take time to develop. though it would be nice to see him on the field for a couple hundred yards at least this season.

    Dinger said in an interview on 104.5 that if the Titans were to take a WR in the first, he would have to contribute right away. Basically, the Titans were looking for the most polished & NFL ready WR in the draft. Britt was it, and that should put to rest the rumors of the Titans actually wanting Nicks instead.

    Assuming Britt can learn the playbook, he should catch a minimum of 25-30 balls.

    I don't think any one is expecting him to come out and be Randy Moss his 1st year. But I'm certain he will be more effect than 12 catches for 117 yards on the whole season.

    As far as Dinger not allowing rookies a shot in the offense too early, I'd disagree. I believe him when he says that Hawkins wasn't grasping the playbook, otherwise he would have said so. Saying that one of your players just isn't getting it is a pretty bold statement, otherwise he would have just told the media that Hawkins has to wait his turn in order to not "out" Hawkins for learning slow and risk pissing him off.

    I can agree with being skeptical of the Titans scouting ability of WR's though. But with where we were in the 1st round, there were no other real threats at WR worthy of 1st round pick, except for Britt. We needed a WR and Britt was the best available.

    And on top of that, most of the Titans recent 1st rounders saw significant action in their 1st year.

    I completely understand where you're coming from. Don't get me wrong. But, you made slight comparisons between Britt and Hawkins. You're having extremely low expectations for Britt because you've seen the struggles of our receivers in the past. That's understandable, but, with all due respect, Britt is a first round pick. It's been 11 years since we've drafted a receiver in the first round. If anything, expectations should be high. He isn't supposed to struggle enough to end up with a measly 12 catches even if he is a rookie.

    I do NOT expect 1,000 yards or 10 TD's from any receiver on this team

    Yeah thats why I couldn't see us getting Boldin or somebody like that even though I really wanted him. I come to realize this offense will not put up a 1000 yard WR. We are built to run and we do it well we need WR to complement that nothing more. However it would be nice to have a WR threat that teams respect and would have to gameplan around.
