    1. To say that JJ and KVB will not work as good side by side is a very presumptuous statement.
    2. In case you didn't watch any of the games JJ played in, he was getting insane penetration as well. Granted JJ weights about 60 lbs less than Al, but is fairly quick and shifty. If he plays even close to the level and gets as good a penetration as he did last year, he's going to start commanding double teams quickly.

While JJ isn't Al's replacement, I'm sick of hearing naysayers say we are effed without Al.
Barring any season ending injury, IMO I see JJ coming out and surprising everybody this year. I also think Ford will come into his own and start wreaking havoc too.

Well let me be a naysayer and state that it's very difficult to replace arguably the best defensive player in the game today.

The thing that will help our D the most this season, is our improved offense.

Yes, we did it last season. But in this year's OTAs, he's said that this year his tackles will be tackles and his ends will be ends. Meaning that he's planning on doing it less, not more.

It's always possible that he's saying it to throw someone off, but it's pretty early and obscure for that.

Not sure what you are saying or think I said. The work juxtaposed means "side by side" which IS what AH and KVB did EVERY play they were both in the game. Even when AH went outside and KVB went inside they were STILL juxtaposed. That was my point.

As for JJ being juxtaposed with KVB I guess there is a good possibility of that considering Tony Brown normally plays the left DT spot.

NO, we are NOT effed without AH. I'm not in that camp at all and actually I think people that talk that way sound ridiculous. Now we might be effed without AH IF we didn't have decent guys to step which we do AND we have a very good DL coach. Obviously we do have a drop off at that position but some fans are in fantasy land about how far the drop off actually is going to be. Our DL actually played well in games and situations in games where AH wasn't even on the field but you would think by how people write that AH was a one man defense.

Good point. Actually I find it difficult to understand how someone can read an article that talks about JJ bulking up and coming away with the impression he will be playing DE. Actually if he was going to be a rush end he would be better off not gaining any weight at all and even trying to lose a little for added quickness.

Jason Jones will only get better and Albert did show him a few things and hey he did learn from #92 I expect us to have a great defensive present

I can't help wondering how well Albert will perform with the 'Skins. He's definitely an externally motivated player, that is when he's healthy and on the field. I wish him luck. But, I like JJ's fitness level and apparent intrinsic motivation just fine;)

Seems to me AH played more outside when KVB was out with an injury but in any event it was only in obvious passing downs and i don't recall it being very effective.

I notice how everybody ignores haye who will likely start along with brown even though it will be a full fledged 4 man rotation.

That stunt was very effective at times when they did do it. I dont think Jones will have nearly the impact that Haynesworth did lining up on the outside. Albert size and strength is what made that stunt work,i dont think that Jones is going to cave in a left tackle and guard the way AH did weighing 285. I'm sure Washburn and Cecil are going to come up with different looks and find ways to to attack an offense which i'm very curious to see now that its not going to involve AH.
