Well case closed (I guess). Some things just don't make sense, I am not saying she did not do it, but 2 + 2 = 5 in this case. Things that bother me.

    1. Gunshot residue on left hand (on fingerprints not palm or back of hand) and gunshot to right temple. Try it very akward. Also in my experience working with law enforcement residue that appears on the fingertips is usally from someone trying to shield themselves from a blast. Also the report states that the GSR was "Inconclusive". I can see it being that way if she only shot once, but 5 shots and the results are inconclusive.

    2. Steve was lying down when killed. Police say she shot him in head, then 2 chest, then head again. The medical examiner says head shots were contact shots and chest shots were from greater than 3 feet. So according to report she walked up shot him in the head, backed up 3 or more feet shot him in the chest, then went back to body fliped head over (with all the brain matter) then shot him again in the other temple. Wow. Then there was the report (i may have misread this, so let me know) that the news station was let in the building after it was cleared and there were 2 bullet holes in the wall behind the couch. So she fired "down" as he was asleep, but bullets are in wall behind him.

    3. I may be wrong about timeline, but my understanding was they left the restaurant after midnight, i don't know how far the drive to the condo was, but then she shot him as he slept at 1:00. Thats pretty quick to get home and fall asleep. Was he drinking and just passed out.

Like i said she probably did kill him, but these details just don't make sense, as much as a murder suiced can make sense. If this is indeed the way it went down, cops & fbi will be using this case for training and study for many years.

    ^^ Yes. Add:

    4. Females, especially young ones, committing murder suicide is extremely rare. Even rare is those that select violent means.

Her psych profile released to the media certainly changed just prior to their announcement also.

I think this case will always bother me and have unresolved questions in my mind.

Not that it really matters, but I heard Don Aaron say that Steve was sitting on the couch, not laying down. He was probably asleep (I hope so) when she shot him in the head.

according to espn he was sleeping when she shot him first. first in the left temple, then two to the chest and then one to the right temple. they said since they didnt find any defensive marks (like he was trying to protect him self) they assumed he was sleeping

I said that the report I heard is that he was probably asleep when he was shot. I've fallen asleep on the couch sitting up several times. He could have been asleep while sitting on the couch, not laying down. I really hope that he was asleep.

I've seen people fall asleep sitting up plenty of times.
And remember this, IIRC, they both had been drinking(at least) so he may have passed out rather than fallen asleep. If that's the case, I can take a little bit of comfort in knowing that he probably never even felt a thing.

i think if he was sleeping he wouldnt have felt anything either...a close up shot to the temple would do the job fairly quick...

Doh! My bad. I didn't word that right. I did mean that I take comfort(albeit just a little) in the fact that he wasn't conscious(passed out or just asleep) and didn't suffer.

I also think that, while I'm in no way happy with her actions, she is a victim in all of this too. I do not condone what she did in any fashion, but I can understand what drove her to this.

Sleeping or laying down or sitting up does not really make a difference. What is strange is the medical examiner report of the distance from which the shots were fired to the police report of the shots.

She walks up shoots him in the head, takes several steps back to shoot him in the chest twice, then walks back to the body to shoot him in the other temple. WOW.

Then she uses her left hand to shoot herself in the right temple. Try holding your hand across your body like that. It is dificult to say the least.

The whole thing is just fishy!
