Since you've never boated before, I suggest you try out NashvilleBoatClub.net. You join the club and it's like you own a boat without all the hassle. That way, you get to become a boat expert and try out different boats before you buy one.

problem is i dont live in nashville...i live in wi and driving down for 8 hours to boat seems a bit crazy to me.

i have boated before. members of my family had boats while i was growing up. speed boats, pontoon boats, row boats...i know how much fun you can have on them..going to the lake and wasting a day on the water...not to mention the bonding time you have with family and friends...i just have never really looked into the whole buying thing...mainly because i never had the cash flow to do it... the other part of the problem is i would have to buy a bigger truck...not that that is really a problem..but you know what i mean.

thanks for all the help guys.

All I can add is that Volvo engines rock for outboard ships, at least in europe, they are like the BMWs of the outboard/inboard scene. Just ask any boat engines mechanic to give you advice, but here you would find most agree about volvo engines. I don't know about there, you should check, but don't get carried away by the car construction names.

A BMW can be crap for boat engines, and a Volvo rock, road does not transfer to water.

Also, Hondas fourstrokes are quite good. Fourstroke outboard engines are something to think about. Outboard are easier to handle for maintenance, rather than inboard, but the last look better and are more energy effective.

I don't know if inboard pontoon exist, havent seen one, but I guess there are.

It's actually a franchise and they have boats all over the U.S. Check out the site and see if there is a club near you.

the best two days in any boaters life are the day he buys her and the day he sells her.

You can buy a pontoon with a 120 1nboard or a tri-toon with twin 525 merc. engines capable of 70 mph. Of course they are jus a bit pricey.

Crestliner makes a really nice pontoon. They have angler models and crusier models. If you like to fish I would go for the angler model as you can cruise and party in that too. The cruiser model is set up better for more sitting room though. I wouldn't get a motor no smaller than a 110hp. You can pull a tube or whatever behind that. You can get a pretty nice 24 ft. pontoon with a 110hp motor for around $23,000.
