    bump.

So far, so good for JR. He's doing what he needs to do to make the team. Here's his 36 yd touchdown run in the Tampa Bay game. I thought it was a very nice run, fun to watch. It was certainly no "gimmie." That was a good example of his patience and vision when he made the cutback to spring loose. The way he made the first guy miss didn't look flashy, but JR just has very good body control, or what they call "kinesthetic intelligence," and he runs low and compact. Maybe the fact that he got a black belt helped him develop that. By the way, the announcer mentions Javon's 4.6 forty time, and I think he's referring to the combine because he was still rehabbing his knee at that point. I can't imagine he'd run a 4.6 at full strength.

I'm looking forward to seeing more in the next game. I would think that by the last two games of the preseason, Ringer might get a chance to get a few touches against a first team defense, right?

Sounds like how I was with Eddie George when he joined the Titans he led me to the team and the rest of the players caused me to stay. I like Ringer as a #3 guy, gives us our own earth wind and fire now. Or I guess smash dash and flash now? Is flash good? I like flash, I'm coining flash right here right now, Smash, Dash and Flash.

As a Michigan fan, I had to respect Ringer. He killed us several times. Thought he'd be a Heisman candidate, but injuries held him back. Getting he and Jared Cook in later rounds made the draft perfect to me.

The rest of the Sparties suck though. :)

Anytime you've got a guy in your face AS SOON as you get the ball handed off and you still make him miss, pass the line into the secondary and score, well, you're doing all the right things. He literally juked that LB out of his shoes then found the gap and exploded thru it, very good run, and hopefully we'll see plenty more like it in the regular season.

I've been extremely impressed with Ringer thus far. He has a remarkable combination of speed and power, he appears to have excellent vision, and he's just a hard-nosed north/south runner who's constantly moving forward; even when he does get tackled, he still picks up an extra 2-3 yards after contact before being dragged down.

I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm somewhat, since his success has come against mostly 3rd & 4th stringers. But as well as he's played in his first couple outings, if I'm the coaches, I'd very much like to see what he can do running behind the starting O-line against an opponents' starters.

At this point, I'm quite sold on the kid; I'm just looking forward to seeing more from him.

That's what happens when you're 5'9", 200 lbs, can bench 400 lbs and squat 600 lbs. You tend to be able to drag a couple guys with you for a bit.

Javon Ringer reminds me of Travis Henry for all the right reasons. Obviously Ringer's the smarter of the two, but they do look alike in pads.
I'm not impressed by the weights he pushes, 400-bench is honestly nothing, and neither is a 600-squat. In high school I benched 330 and squat half a ton, and I'm 5'10" 200lbs. NFL players need to at least do that coming in to be worthwhile. The one thing I hope he can improve is his stiff arm, backs like him with a powerful stiff arm are serious.
