When you're 0-5, more times than not, teams get younger. Cutting Edison is something of significance when he's shown signs he may have a future somewhere in this league.

Players who can have some usage this season>players with potential who won't even see ST time, and will be on the practice squad. Nobody's going to pick him up.

The point is he had more of chance of being a "Randy Moss" than Hawkins.

How would cutting the WRONG player make someone happy?

I've always liked Hawkins (perhaps just because he has a neat name), but in the short time he's been here he has started to remind me a little of Paul Williams - someone who seems to have lots of potential but can't translate it on the field, and ends up hanging around longer than he should...

you're basically splitting hairs between the fourth and fifth WRs.

it was literally down to those two because of injuries and special teams needs. one was a draft pick and the other wasn't, that's pretty much what it came down to.

obviously the coaches felt they had a better chance of getting edison on the PS than hawkins.

Oh I don't disagree with you at all; the difference between Hawkins and Edison is likely minuscule. It's just that Edison seemed to have shown more in a shorter time than Hawk ever has, really. I recall Hawk having one good preseason game for 70 yards and a TD, but that's all that springs to mind. People were going bonkers over Edison's preseason game, not just on a statistical level, but on a level of game awareness - something that Hawkins has not shown to this point.

Also - does Hawk play special teams? I'd never heard anyone mentioning his special teams contributions, but admittedly, I wasn't really looking out for it.
