Just a thought. I feel that we should pursue Richard Seymour in the offseason. We will have cap room with all of the defections that will occur after the season. Resign Keith and draft a OLB (good bye Thorton). Draft Berry! The front tier would start Seymour, Brown (if resigned), Hayes or Vickerson , and Jones. You still hall Ball and Marks. And the must important piece to this is Jim Washburn. The 2nd Tier would start Bullock, Tullock, and a speed linebacker. I mean a really atheletic OLB. The 3rd Tier would be Courtland, Grif, Hope, and Berry. We have some young dbs getting playing time now, so this will help them in the future. However, before you do any of the above, FIRE CHUCK!!!!!!!

    Why would Thornton go?

Dont get me wrong. He is a great guy. I loaned him money once. However, we need a olb that can blitz the qb and able to cover a wr or te in a pinch.

The Raiders just traded a first round pick for Seymour. They are not going to just let him walk away as a free agent. They'll give him as much money as they have to to keep him.

The Patriots let him go for financial reasons. He'd probably run us more than Jones and KVB combined. No thanks.

    Better solution: Draft this guy.

Ndamukong Suh. You probably haven't heard of him yet, but he's going to be a top 5 pick according to ESPN's early projections and is going to become a hot commodity come draft day.

As a Huskers fan, I can say with a straight face that he's an absolute monster, and even that is nearly understating it.

bullock? Pretty sure no one is related to sandra on this team. What speed linebacker that is going to be good at covering and can replace thorton are we gonna get in round 3. We use our 1st on berry then our 2 is owed to the pats. So what sleeper linebacker is going to start next year? Not to mention the raiders will pay richard

I think Richard is great..but id much rather go young..by either drafting a guy in the draft or doing some good scouting (which is something this team seems to lack also) and try and get one via trade or FA.

I think that Seymour would be a great pickup. He barely practiced with the Raiders and came out and racked up 2 sacks that week. I know this isn't enough to crown his @ss but the dude is tough and very versatile. I do believe that he can play both DT and DE which would up his value as far as I'm concerned. True he's older, but a 2 or 3 year deal would be great. He's got great experience, can be a leader for this young group and he plays with a lot of passion.

Sure the Raiders gave up a lot for him, but it is the Raiders and he more than likely doesn't want to stick around there any longer than he has to. I say, if we can get him for a reasonable amount on a 2 or 3 year deal then that would be sweet.
