League MVP is a realistic possibility.

It is so funny to see how most people on this board thought that he was a mistake or that the Titans wasted the pick when they chose him. He is a special player and the Titans are only scratching the surface of what he can do. They really should let him run a few kickoffs back like he did in college.

I'll admit it, I was none too happy when we drafted CJ. I don't keep up with NCAA nearly as much as I do NFL and I wasn't very familiar with him. Plus I thought we had more pressing needs than RB at the time. I'm gladly eating crow now though.

I was only initially upset with the CJ pick, just because of the school/ conference. Once I did research though, (which was that night), I quick realized that he had stuff like I have never seen before. That was my first impression, and he keeps proving that we really have no idea. I have never seen an athlete of his caliber on the football field playing RB. It is incredible to watch. He makes other incredible athletes look slow and silly. Wow.

I wasn't a fan of the pick because it was, yet again, another early running back pick.

Just goes to show you ......

It really doesn't matter what conference or team they play for. Some others:

    DeAngelo Williams ..... Panthers ...... Memphis (C-USA)

    Matt Forte ....... Bears ....... Tulane (C-USA)

    Kevin Smith ...... Lions ......... UCF (C-USA)

Vonta Leach (FB) ........ Texans ......... ECU (C-USA)

    Chris Johnson ....... Titans .......... ECU (C-USA)

    one other of note:

Brett Farve ......... Vikings ........... Southern Miss (C-USA)

I think this is a misconception. To echo the chorus, I think few people thought it was a mistake or wasted pick because CJ sucks, most people were pissed because we drafted a RB with our 1st or 2nd pick three years in a row. (myself included)

I love that he appears to be improving a bit, too... which is scary. The 1st 10 yards of his 89 yard TD were unlike anything we've seen from him before.

First off when he takes the hand-off the middle is a bit crowded and he only has a DB to beat on the edge. He knows it's 3rd down and only 4 deep in his own territory, so he doesn't want to run laterally to get outside and takes it straight up the middle.

Then the DB goes for his legs from behind as he hits the hole... last year CJ gets tripped up from behind - this time he high-steps it enough to get past him and pick up the 1st down.

Then he immediately lowers his head into the LB and just plain runs through the tackle.

At that point he's only picked up 8 yards, but they were the best 8 yards he's ever run as a Titan. In 1 play he did 3 things that we haven't seen from him before. I hope he can keep it up.
