I think must is a strong word. There are lots of cases of teams winning Superbowls without an elite QB. And then again there are many cases of teams with elite QBs that do. Does an elite QB give you a better chance? yes. But to say you must have an elite QB to win one is not true. It only makes it more likely.

When Tom Brady won his first Superbowl there wasn't anyone who called him elite. He quickly developed into an elite QB. I think that is what many VY fans hope he will do, develop into an elite QB. Will he ever be on the same page as Peyton Manning or Tom Brady? Maybe not. But some think he can in his own way. VY is more like a Big Ben.

WOW! It would be more honest to go ahead and say that you just don't like VY and no matter how he performs for you he will never be a good QB. But since you are such a great talent evaluator then go ahead and tell everyone which are those tools needed to be and "elite QB" and why you think VY does not have them.

You talk about the schedule. The Titans played the Colts, Jaguars and Texans twice during the season. With both the Jaguars and the Texans the Titans lost with KC as the QB and won with VY. With the Colts the Titans lost both times so they beat us fair and square. You mention the Patriots but you forget that we beat a team, the Miami Dolphins, that just the week before had beat them. The players don't have any control on who they play, the only thing they can do is go out and try to beat the team that is put in front of them.

You are typical "hater" that downplays everything that VY does in order to sound intelligent but is the other way around.

I think that I over rated your post but just wanted to clear things for you.

For whatever reason it seemed to me that Fisher did not evaluate the talent correctly before the start of the season. Instead of improvement he seemed content with last years group minus our head stomp er, who intimidated a lot of teams.
When I watch Collins, I see a guy who knows whats coming , but without max protection he is next to worthless. You protect him, he is better than average with the exception of a few errant throws.
I figured Vince was through but I did want to see him get another chance. I heard Fisher say many times that Vince was the future. I will have to admit I did not believe him.
I also believe when Collins was in, that the team for whatever reason was playing sub-par. There was so many dropped passes at critical times. When you run the ball a lot, almost all throws are important.I think most folks here would have to admit he played well enough to win those first three games.
When I saw Vince come in, I saw a team start playing. Easy catches were not missed and even a few difficult catches were made. I saw a benefit in the run game, which could be coincidence but I don't think it was really. I saw a drop-off in throw aways and sacks. I saw more 1st downs made. I saw runs for 1st downs from the QB when things broke down. I seen increased confidence in the players, which I don't think is too debatable.
Like it or not Vince has helped this team win this season. Kerry was pretty good last year, but the new improved Vince has helped us a lot more in my opinion.

It's funny. What we saw from Collins this year is exactly what he has done his entire career. He has been inconsistent from one year to the next. He has always been turnover prone. He can play within your system, but don't expect him to be a game changer or playmaker.

Many wanted to run Young out of town after 3 seasons. Yet Collins had 15 years of data to review and we ignore all of them and only focus on he led the Titans to a 13-3 season. Amazing how we over analyzed Young's small data sample (3 years) and ignored Collins (15 years).

To his credit, Collins was in a contract year and working on the last contract of his career. He stepped up and played well enough to get that contract. Unfortunately for the Titans, this season, he reverted to his old ways.

Trying to compare VYs stats from 2007 to Collins' in 2009s does prove something if the ratings on that site are accurate (which I don't believe they are).

VY with a terrible RB and even worse receivers performed comparably to Collins with the best RB in the league and a very solid receiving group.

Collins sucks and always has, call me a VY homer but the only difference between 10-6 in 07 and 13-3 last year was Chris Johnson.

This entire post is lame bro!

First off let me state this emphatically. 90% of all teams with lousy offense will have bad defenses. I can make the valid argument that it was Collins failure to keep drives alive and absolutely killed our time of possession that skewed those defensive numbers. (Dont get me wrong now, our defense had some holes people.. boy did they have some holes, but keeping them on the field longer made those holes even worse)

Let me use this example to illustrate my point. The first time we played Jacksonville, they held the ball for 34 mins on offens compared to our mere 26 minutes of offense. Probably a bunch of those coming on completely meaningless late game drives when the game was already decided.
On the rematch and with Vince young starting the offense held the ball for a whopping 40 mins...LET ME SAY THAT AGAIN. THE OFFENSE HELD THE BALL FOR A WHOPPING 40 MINS!

That means our defense was on the field for almost an entire quarter less than they were when collins played.

People, its easy for some one to play with numbers and feed you total horse crap as though it were chocolate cake. Dont buy into this nonsense!

Again this is total absolute rubbish. Not that i blame you or any one else for repeating this nonsense. You have been spoon fed a bunch of baloney by the 24 hour sports networks that are filled with fake experts and idiots who were already brainwashed by the same media machine with bogus notions about the game of football.

Football is no different than any other business that requires unique strategy in order to pull ahead of the competition. Therefore when any moron walks up to you and tells you some as redundant as "YOu need an elite QB to win superbowls" Think of this typical person as one of those ignorant folks back in the day who probably shunned using toilet paper in favor of leaves because, well thats how he has done it all his life, thats how his daddy did it and his daddy before him. Point being that in practically every aspect of life, be it banking, politics, medicine, academics, technology, even sports, only innovators who have defied the status quo have prospered. Practically every one who has bucked the trend has shriveled up and died!
And the funny thing about innovators is that 100% of them have had critics like this guy telling him whatever he is attempting wont work!

That kind of thinking is the typical regressive type of thought that actually keeps businesses and 98% of NFL teams in the same rut they have been in. Most people never stop to ask when proffered this kind of bogus advice. How many so called "elite" QBs have prospered and won a superbowl? How many non elite QBs have won a superbowl..

When you look at the percentages, the number is alarmingly in favor of the non elite QB. Yes folks well over 80% of these so called elite QBs actually have never won diddley squat!

In any business if you are failing at a rate of 80%, any one with an ounce of sense would quickly change his business model and pursue a different one.

Very few teams in the NFL have actually tried to pursue a different model to win superbowls this decade. The RAvens and Tampay bucs and Dolphins. 2 of them have actually won a superbowl. With the dolphins just being in the infancy of their move from the nonsensical "elite" quarter back model that this guy is advocating for! That is a 75% sucess rate. (And folks dont bring up the Vick Atlanta falcons. The nonsense the falcons tried to do with Vick is the same exact bull this guy is advocating we do with Vince young. IE Turn him into this mythical elite passing qB who runs when its necessary)

And funny thing yet about this nonsensical elite Qb rubbish that people some how have the audacity to bring up is that VY is actually more successful being the exact opposite of this so called elite QB. THAT IS THE REASON NATE HERE WANTS EVERYBODY TO FORGET THAT SUPER ROOKIE SEASON VY PUT UP...

Pretty much every titans fan i have spoken to doesnt want VInce Young to be an elite QB..They want VInce Young to be Vince young. You want an elite QB go buy your Peyton Manning jersey (or better yet borrow Jeff Fishers) and move to indy!

Merry xmas to all and may we get a big fat firing of you know who in our xmas socks!
