your basis for this is what?
    do you know the guy?

he could be better with his money than any of us here..

there's real irony in this statement though. you just showed why he isn't marketable. certain people will look at him and see a black guy with gold teeth who talks kinda funny and think he is a thug and doesn't know how to take care of his finances. the majority of people don't want a guy like that telling them what to buy.

the only problem with that is that he isn't a thug, rarely parties, stays away from the gold-digging girls, and is a christian guy with probably the same core values as many of those who would disregard him as just another stupid thug.

CJ was a 1st round pick, so he got a large, lump sum when he signed his deal. Also, the NFLPA has a safety net in the end of season bonanza, that pays each player a "bonus" if they exceed their contract. The most notable would be Cortland Finnegan, before his 2nd contract. If a player was a low draft pick or free agent, yet he starts the majority of the games and exceeds his current contract, then at the end of the season, he is given a lump sum to make up for his production

In CJs case, he got a piece of that pie because he broke a record, and exceeded his contract. Until 2K becomes the norm, doing it exceeds your contract. CJ already had a few basic endorsement deals, including Nike. In the next few years, CJ's earnings with probably double what the entire O-line makes as a whole.

Statistics show that 71% of NFL players are broke within 5 years of leaving the league. I wouldn't venture to say that all NFL athletes are thugs, and I wouldn't venture to say that thugs are bad with their money. Thugs may not have a dime in their checking account, but might have 25k in their pocket. I think you are trying to profile people, but I think this falls into the category of "Sudden Wealth Syndrome." People who have never had money that all of sudden have alot tend to want to spend it like its going out of style. It's quite common.

It's no secret that these pro athletes come into money from nowhere. Rags to riches hello. It can be overwhelming for anyone really.

The only reason you don't hear about Wall St. executives going broke more is because their upbringing consisted of money. So they act a little better with their money by NOT buying a car worth that of a house. But instead they spend their money on stocks and stuff. You can look smart and have stocks that could tank in 2 minutes from now or you could look stupid and have a car of the same value. Cars depreciate, so do stocks but they are perceived as 'smarter choices'. Just because they COULD be worth more doesn't make them any better of a decision than buying a $300,000 car. They could both be only worth $50,000 in two years.

Either way the perception in our society is that if your rich AND black you must be a baller or entertainer. And that you'll also blow it on cars and jewels. It holds true for some, not all. Good and bad stereotypes originate from somewhere.

I would like to point out that CJ will run into more gold digging females in Brentwood and Franklin than he will hanging out on Jefferson Street and the TSU campus or at an urban club. As a whole, around the way females and strippers just want to get their rent paid, a purse or just say that they had sex with a baller. On the other hand, a college educated, middle class or upper middle class female is the more dangerous, financially speaking, of the treasure hunting females.

Speaking on behalf of all treasure hunters....you can't get or take what a man ain't willing to give up. Out of the mouth of a very famous and well loved Titan player, "Don't be afraid to ask a rich nXgga to buy you shxt.":greedy: I ain't saying she a gold digger....but she ain't effing with no broke n's:ha:

Wait, was that really a suggestion that a $300,000 car might be a better choice than "stocks?" While "stocks" is generic enough that it can mean a lot of things, I still have to shake my head at that logic.

That whole thing aside, CJ is an incredible deal for the Titans right now. He did get a good contract as a 1st rounder, but he's outplaying it by far. Hopefully, the Titans can get him through another season under this contract, and then extend him several years and up his pay next offseason before he does something to hurt the team.

He's definitely going to make plenty of money over the next five years, on the field and off. Roos and Stewart are set for life, but they'll take the gifts. Roos has a pretty sweet little condo in German town with an 8 person hot tub on the roof.

    Yes, try and listen.

I was simply saying that while a black guy that starts for the Titans might choose to spend his 300k on a car, it doesn't make him stupid or ghetto. Because the white guy who's on Wall Street might choose to spend it on stocks which aren't guaranteed to do anything. At least his car is still worth something (much less) but something. Stocks can be 300K today 50K tomorrow. No car will depreciate at that rate. So a car could be a better investment than stocks. A bucket of rocks could be better than some stocks these days.

And stop commenting on my stuff. I'm tired of you logging in just to admire my posts.

I wouldn't buy a car for 300k unless my driveway was worth 10x that, but not all these hood rich athletes are stupid is all I'm saying. A 300k investment may have it's good intentions, but the market blows. If your capitol is going to take a hit, at least have a tangible product to resell.

Unfortunately CJ is going to be limited in what he has because of his speaking skills. He may be intelligent but he is very hard to understand (at least from what I have heard of him speak).
