One thing I will agree on is that passing on some of those WR's appears the right decision. We've had some decent picks. But that doesn't change the fact that they should have been drafted by the Titans to fill the need regardless. That's all hindsight. It doesn't really change my position although I can see why you would use that to defend our waiting for three years. It's just that I don't think the Titans graded those WR's any lower than anyone else based on talent. I think they graded them low because they refused to draft a WR. I don't think the Titans were waiting for their opportunity to draft the right WR in Britt, I think they were forced into it.

To explain my statement on Fisher's duality of listening and not listening to the media. Yes. It's both. He's Jeckyl and Hyde. I think Fisher ignores the right decision for as long as he can out of pride, and then at the precipice, he is finally proven wrong, and he is informed he is out of time, then he knows he has to listen, and then he makes the change. I see a whole history of it. So that's how I can say that he ignores the media, fans, and world for 5 years, and then finally is forced into listening, and feels the pressure to make the change. He doesn't want to change. But he does it cause he has to. It's like peer pressure. He finally caves. And thank god for that. Better late than never.

I'm not saying Fisher is any different than anyone else. I'm not saying our draft could have been better. I'm just trying to say that outside pressure had a lot to do with us drafting a WR and that helped the team. But I can see the other side of the argument so I know where everyone else is coming from. There are logical conclusions drawn there. But to me, it was forced. Not the chosen path.

I think that's a pretty huge stretch, Phi... the pressure was huge for 2007 and 2008, and was actually down by last year's draft, mostly thanks to CJ. It's was also down because we'd signed Washington. We picked a WR in the first round in the draft with the least expectation out of the past four...

I have to agree with Gut. Looking at our first round picks over the last few years, we clearly aren't looking at expectations or fan/public pressure. Griffen and CJ both came out of nowhere.

    Um...

According to 'sources' close to Denver and around the league, it is believed Denver can get a 1st and 3rdr for Brandon Marshall.

I would NOT give that up and then sign him to a HUGE contract extension so we can lose games 40-30.

WR's are NOT why this team is losing, our DEFENSE is!

On Brandon Marshall. I would say that the WR's are much improved, and are not the reason for any loss recently. But I would also say that we still do not have a #1, and perhaps not even a #2. And while scoring TD's is no longer the problem it used to be, I don't think anyone here has faith that our WR's can get open downfield on their own. Nate Washington is still a #3 in my opinion. Gage is the closest thing we have to a #1 because he can make amazing plays from time to time, but he does not have breakaway talent. Britt could become a #1, but still no evidence of a deep ball. So I'm not sure that we have enough balance between the intermediate and deep routes to be an offensive juggernaut.

I'm not going to say brandon marshall is a good move. We have other needs. But I think the offense would notice a substantial lift if he were on the team. So there's some room for improvement. Do we need to go get a WR now. No. We spread the ball around anyway. But I do think we'd see a real difference if we did.

    Well...

I'd say Gage is a better #2 than #1 WR, but I think Britt can be a #1 WR. I agree that to me Wash is more of a #3 guy with the potential to be a #2. I don't know how you saw no evidence of a deep ball with Britt. He had 10 catches of at least 20yds and about 4 catches over 40+ yds and he ONLY started 6 games. Washington dropped about 4 50+yd bombs and seemed to be open deep every other game. He also had several 20+yd catches as well as Gage did.

Last year our avg yards per pass with Collins was 6.4. With VY this year that number jumped to 7.3 and should have been higher if Britt (a couple) and Wash (4-6) had not dropped so many deep passes. It appears to me that if teams load the box to try and slow down CJ, VY and this WR corp are making them pay. Even Hawkins had a 30+yd catch and he barely played.

I'd agree the team would be improved with Brandon Marshall on it...BUT not for the draft picks and money we'd have to pay him. This WR corp is more than good enough...especially with CJ and our TE's. We need to spend on our defense.

I think the main thing that is being overlooked is Britt's blocking abilty. If he improves his hands, he may turn into a more explosive Hines Ward. Kenny is a perfect fit for Jeff Fisher's offensive scheme. He was the youngest player in the NFL this year. The sky is the limit for him.
