I haven't looked into it much and I certainly hope it doesn't happen either. But this guy seems to think it could happen:

"NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith said Thursday that the chance of a lockout after next season is a "14" on a scale of 1-to-10..."

Players will be hurt. They won't have saved enough to last long in a lock out.

Owners will actually make more money not having football (in the short term) in 2011, than playing games. Their deals with the network don't protect the networks if there's no football, so they'd still get the money and not have to pay the players. Pretty ridiculous.

I also think it's amazing that a lock out is being discussed. It's ridiculous, given how much money everyone is making. However, with that much money to be made, there's more likely to be disputes. We'll see how far it gets, but both sides are digging in right now, and they have been for months now.

I'm just afraid he'd have a fat Al type drop off after a bid payday.

IMO I'd say wait until after next season. If he has another great year, we give him a decent raise.

Every year we wait to give this man the money he deserves is more money we have to pay him. The high-end salary for these guys doesn't get lower as the years go by.

Considering how Fish spoke on this, it's obvious the F/O is stuck in their ways and Chris will not be back at some point. He might finish his contract, but I can't see him accepting the franchise tag when they think they still haven't seen enough out of him yet.

Every time I think there is too much money for there to be a lockout in 2011, I remind myself I would have never dreamed MLB would not play a World Series either.

    Pay da' Man!!!!

    .....after next year :)

The guy's young...I see him having a least 3-4 more top years...plenty of time for him to pocket the big pay day he deserves.
