Go be a Saints fan then. There's not a big name out there that we can overpay and win a SB with next year. We want to have a good team for years to come, not cripple ourselves with veterans with bloated contracts.

I'm still waiting for you to show this fool proof plan of yours to win us a Superbowl.
You sure sound like you have the answers.

I'm still waiting on the list of the last 10 superbowl champions and what massive high priced free agents they brought in that got them over the edge.

    brandon marshall = superbowl

but really... we need to greatly improve in a few areas... FA is the way to do this. all good teams either play the FA game well (cromartie for a 3rd, randy moss for a 3rd), or they build thru the draft by drafting players that fit their system.

problem with the titans is we dont have a system. we randomly draft the BPA most times.

for example... courtney roby was picked by the titans in the 3rd round. he was worthless for us. the saints then picked him up and turned him into a speacial teams player... the interesting thing about this is that roby cant even start over marques colston and devrey henderson, random no name 7th rounders that ball hard in the new orleans system. we dont have a system, we dont ever really draft a certain "type" of player. we dont have an offensive stategy or scheme deeper than hand the running back the ball and have the WRs run curl routes.

also, our defensive strategy just revolves on having a lot of talent on the field, and droping back everyone into coverage in hopes of someone making a play

Roby is a special teams player because of his blocking not because he is exceptional.

Moss is a bad example because he would only go to the Patriots.

Cortland Finnegan was a no name 7th round pick.

im saying roby sucks and we used a 3rd on him to play WR for us, while the saints go 2 ballers for pretty much free due to the fact the saints have an offensive gameplan more eloborate than a peewee level

and yes... finnegan was a good pick... that makes us id say 1 for 10 in DBs drafted that actually turned out good.

That actually is a system. BPA = solid base of a team. You may not like it, but that doesn't mean it's not a system.

    :hmm:

Do you're homework, please. The Saints didn't pick up Roby from us, and they didn't "turn him into a special teams player". He occasionally returned kicks for us in 2005. That is when a guy named Pacman wasn't doing it better. In 2006 Bobby Wade beat out Roby for the job and Pac focused mostly on punt returns. Roby was picked up by the Bengals and then the Colts. THEN the Saints took him and he's been good as a returner, but in 2008 Carr was much better for us than Roby was for the Saints. So shouldn't you give the Titans props for getting Carr to "ball hard"?

never said the saints picked up roby directly from us. i dont really care what happened to him after he busted.

fact of the matter is roby <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< henderson and colston (7th round no names)

I'm a little torn with how I feel about the job Reinfeldt is doing. Look, we all know that Bud Adams holds a very, very short leash. Considering that Bud is too cheap to actually shell out money for a great free agent, there's really not much that Reinfeldt can do. Frankly I feel the problem is Bud would rather make money than win, I think that's pretty obvious.

This team is in dire need of a pass rushing defensive end and corner and possibly a wide receiver. Peppers basically signed a Haynesworth type deal, which I know Bud can afford but he's too cheap. Same with Danta Robinson, yeah he's not a #1 corner but he's a good #2 which we desperately need. And c'mon, Anquan Boldin for a 3rd and 4th round draft pick, the Ravens stole him.

Just imagine if we could have signed Peppers, then we draft Kyle Wilson or Joe Haden in the draft and suddenly our defense is much, much better. The thing that really bugs me is this conversation never came up amongst the Titans brass, because they know damn well that Bud will not pay for top end free agent talent... why bother.

This drafting philosophy of "smallschoolitus" is a bit bothersome and I'm sure Reinfeldt has something to do with it. I'm tired of us drafting unknown players from tiny schools just because they have the physical measurables or a good combine performance. Many times we pass up on kids with a large body of work, from established programs. To me this idea is very risky, and it seems to end up being boom or bust more often than not.

I guess I'd give Reinfeldt the grade of a B- in his first couple seasons, but this draft and offseason will be very telling.
