I dont even think Jamarcus Russell would have been cut by now with our offensive line and run game. 17th is bogus, hope our hogs see it and it motivates 'em.

    That's absolutely amazing.

I'd have a hard time justifying putting outside the top 5, though I'd at least understand if we were in the 5-10 range.

17th? Even though their comment says that we had the third best pass-blocking?

Chris Johnson should hold out in favor of getting The Titans O-line more money.

Football Outsiders rankings is purely statistical. It's unbiased and hard to argue against.

It's TOO statistical. If you used the same type of study for any other position, it'd come out with crazy results like Ray Rice being the best RB in the league.

It is obvious to me that a QB like P. Manning, Brady and Brees would instantly make out line look statistically better (every bit as good as the Saints). Think about Chris Johnson playing with our line and one of those guys at QB. CJ was the main focus of defenses against out offense. Even with Collins at QB our line was one of the least sacked in the league. The stats are biased.

At first, when I quoted this I figured it'd be easy to name 5 backs better than Rice. It wasn't that easy.

    1. Chris Johnson
    2. Adrian Peterson
    3. Steven Jackson
    4. DeAngelo Williams
    5. Michael Turner

Then I'd put Rice somewhere between 6-10. I still can't consider him top 5.

    From http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol

It's pretty easy to argue against a method that eliminates the runs in which the OL does its job well. The rankings are biased against teams with a lot of long runs. The Titans, for example, had more than 50 runs (I counted 54) of 11 or more yards, out of a total of 499 rushes. I wouldn't think that any other team rushes for 11 or more yards more than 10% of the time.

Ranking run blocking based on whose bad runs are the best is like ranking quarterbacks based on whose incompletions are closest to the receiver without acknowledging completion percentage, yards per attempt, or touchdowns.

i don't know how u didnt say MJD in that post. he is top 5, possibly now even better than jackson due to all the punishment he's taken in the Lou.

on to this thread, i was comin here to post this as a thread, but alas some1 already did. it is intolerable - regardless of the 'stats' (arnet 90% of them lies anyway?)

the titans have a top three line, and they are consistent. didnt the year b4 last, the supposed hardest position on the line (and overall in the nfl a tough one); our LT did not give up a SINGLE sack and overall we had 2nd to least in the NFL (if i recall correctly). And didnt they clear way for the below average RB white to have a 1K yard year?

There was not a production drop in OL play, just now we have a scrambling QB and it is known they are much harder to protect - IS THAT IN THE STATS? - probably not. What about the fact that no1 wants to believe, we have UPGRADED our line. Sure Mawae was a leader, but Amano and Leroy have been watching for a VERY long time, heck they even saw some of the success Benji/Zach had.

Does it take into account coaching - b/c we have the best teaching these ppl. From LT to RT, across the board, we have solid players. what about depth, do those other teams have players in the wing ready to take over if some1 is injured. The titans do, i have over the past 2 years been hearing a lot about Troy K, and last time that happened a Stewy/Amano came out of it. They say he can fill in at any position, and they are high on his abilities.

Forget those stats, use your head - titans top 3
