The only way I can see C.J. slacking off like Jesse is getting at, would be if after this year he still wasn't resigned. Say he did some how go another two seasons unpaid... Then maybe, I could see him getting lazy.

I'm speaking of the $30-40m CJ wants I never said he does not deserve more because he does. He has 3 years left on his current contract is that right? The only way I see that type of money being paid is if they lock him up for 7-8 years at $5mil a yr. Just my 2 cents

I think I am worth way more than my current salary, like I said that is what I see the titans doing. And right now they are doing nothing sounds like to me they are working more close with current RB and developing our WR. You guys dont allow people to have their own opinions when they vary from yours.

The problem is the major discrepancy between what CJ thinks he "should" be paid, and the practical realities of his contract.

He committed to the team for five years. If he wants to cut more than half of that commitment off, then he should be prepared to not take top value on the contract. The problem is that he isn't going to be willing to do that, as is evidenced by his only public comments about what he's looking for, which is to be the highest paid offensive player in the game (not going to happen), and getting 30-40 million guaranteed.

That much money, when taking into account what he's asking the Titans to give up in tearing up his contract, would require at least five, six, or seven years on a new deal. The problem is that by the end of that deal, CJ would have "forgotten" about his huge new deal and bonus, and will just ask for more money again. It's an ugly pattern.

This situation really should have been resolved by now. I cannot wait for a new group of ownership and managment and staff

its a gamble because nothing is 100% sure in the nfl. the titans are playing it safe and love it or hate it the only way cj will see 30-40 million guaranteed is with another team thats willing to take a chance. like or not giving cj 30-40 mill guaranteed is a huge gamble and the titans are not a gambling team. the reality is that 2000yrd season could end up costing the titans big time especially when it didnt get the titans anywhere...

    1. It's not a huge gamble the guy has already proven himself to be an elite player.

    2. He won't get that much money. His agent is posturing with the $40M but my guess a deal gets done with about half that amount. Something along the lines of a 7 year $56M deal with $22M guaranteed and maybe A $17M SB.

    3. A cowardly approach will not get us a super bowl. Not paying our best players a competitive contract will not accomplish anything. What do you want us to be the Pittsburgh Pirates of the NFL? I guess the $34M signing bonus that Peyton Manning got was a big risk then? Manning signed that deal before the 2004 season. How has that turned out?
