Im pretty sure...without Googling and searching around....that a team just did the same exact thing this year. Might have been Seattle? But it was the samething as far as not allowing a player to show up at the facility.

Plenty of teams have done Veteran "dumps" look at what the Eagles have just done in the off-season....Titans did it in 04 due to cap room....Eagles did it because they dont keep players after a certain age.

Why even mention Brady? Look at the situation he is going thru right now, guy has helped the Pats win 3 rings and all of a sudden now he cant even get under contract??

So dont say its just the Titans, when most/if not all teams have done the same things.

Do we see Bulluck with any upside or even playing at the same level? The Titans obviously didn't. How can anyone blame the Titans if they felt the need to go into another direction and play the best players they have? I remember members here upset at Fisher for being "too loyal" to his vets and playing Del Grecko, Matthews and Wycheck too long. Bulluck would have expected to start if he'd been re-signed.

I think Bulluck's leadership will be missed. He's been critical of the defensive scheme at times but seemed to be someone everyone on the defense respected. He set the tone.

I'll miss the guy but I don't blame the Titans for not re-signing him. Apparently, only the Cards and Giants were interested and I hear the Giants may want to move him inside.

I hope Bulluck proves the world wrong but there aren't many 33-year old speed LBs who are successful after an ACL.

They probably see him as depth later in the year if someone goes down. That would be a reason to put him on the active pup but paying a guy $2.5M just to pup him is unusual. You might pay a guy $1M to do that but $2.5M is only for this year and if he isn't even activated to play until half the season is over that is not cheap.

We have a 4th rd pick entering his 3rd season(Keglar), a 4th rd pick in McGrath who can play and just used a 3rd rd pick on Curran. We just needed to move on.

We can't emphasize enough how important that weakside linebacker spot is for our defense. You need a guy who can run sideline to sideline, who can cover almost like a safety and who provides vet leadership. Spoon gives us all those things.

Had we not signed spoon we might have made a trade on draft day to get that type of player. A Michael Boley for example would have been a nice fit or Demorrio Williams. To get a guy the caliber of Witherspoon for 3 years for just $3.65M a year is golden.

Spoon a former Georgia product can also be a great Mentor to Curran.

    Lots of thoughts here...

First, I have been a big fan of Keith's for a long time. I've worn out my Bulluck jersey. My favorite away game that I've ever been to was Monday Night Football in New Orleans. The Saints fans quieted down after his three INTs that night. Good leader, great guy. He's done amazing work with foster kids. Also, no matter where you meet him (training camp, his wine even in the fall, Steeplechase...) he's always been great to the fans.

That being said, this was probably the right decision for the team, personnel wise. I'm surprised that the Giants signed him this early. Makes me wonder what, if any, parts of the contract are guaranteed. He could possibly be cut before the season starts.

Letting him move on was the better move for the team and for Bulluck anyway. If we re-sign him, cutting him is an incredibly un fan-friendly option, and it cuts down his chances with another team.

McGrath's four game suspension was the nail in the coffin. The time when we needed Keith the most is the time when his ability is the most in doubt. Quite frankly, his needs and our needs did not fit at all.

Moving to MLB? I am not confident that we're going to see much more production from him as he rehabs, and learns a new system and position.

Really glad to see him get to go to New York. Good for him.

I wonder if he'll be on the field, and if he'll be effective at all, when we're up there week 3. If he's on the field, he'll be tested, that's for sure.

After the good, and the tactical, I do have some complaints about Keith. When you listen to what he said overall over the last three or four years, I think the natural conclusion is that he never believed/expected to stay here. Keith wanted to get paid again, and would have if it hadn't been for the knee injury. That's all well and good, except that it's hypocritical for him to talk about the team not rewarding him for all he's done for the team. He already got a large veteran contract from the team, at the height of his production. Now he wanted another one when he was a huge risk. He said that the team never contacted him, but quite frankly, it doesn't sound like he really wanted them to. He talked about not taking a home town discount several times. If he was ready to move on, that's ok, but don't complain about loyalty when all you want is to be paid more than any other team.

Again, despite the last paragraph, Keith was a great titan, and I hope he comes back and retires as one.

^I like Keith as much as anyone, but he wasn't being nasty to the Titans about a discount. He simply assumed because of how Eddie, Steve, and others were treated that he'd also get the cold shoulder as he apparently did. I had no issues with Keith talking the way he did over the past three years. He saw a trend, and didn't like it so he spoke about it. Maybe the Titans didn't bring him back because of his comments... Is that what you're suggesting.

I'm a little surprised that you guys are OK with getting rid of Bulluck after losing all of those other veterans. It's going to be a young team for sure.

To me, this was a great move by the Giants, seeing as how this was the biggest question mark on their roster. He is from NY and always wanted to play there so it's a good fit and the reason he turned down more money from the Cards. This guy has always been one of my favs for his play, leadership and the way he holds the rest of the D accountable. Wish him well.

A one year deal for 2.5 million plus incentives in an uncapped year.

yeah- the team is better off to have not even contacted him. We can always get another top 5 franchise tackler (one who led the team in tackles the past 6 of 8 seasons)- they are easy to come by. And that is just WAY too much to pay for character like Bulluck's and is leadership ability is way over-rated.

What are you people smoking? Sounds like Bud's or Fisher's hip cigar to me.

Bulluck knew he was going to get dumped even before the injury.

"....Still, Bulluck said he's not upset. He said he joins a long list of players such as Steve McNair, Derrick Mason, Eddie George and Samari Rolle."

He also stated to the press he felt like he had been abandoned.

It wasn't the money, it was the injury uncertainty combined with not having McGrath at the beginning of the year. I'd happily see the team pay Keith more than that just for the chance that he could come back and be ready at the start of the season, but I have no idea what the odds of that are.

Before the injury, it would have been a money issue.

I have no problem with Keith saying what he said, I just hope that people recognize that what he's talking about works both ways.

It's not just about the money. The Titans could easily have afforded to sign Bulluck. The team couldn't have afforded to start him and slow the development of his replacement. It's that simple. At some point, the balance tilts to the other side and there's more value in the future than in the past.
