Saw Dinner for Schmucks - nothing to add that hasn't already been said here.

Rewatched Stander - South African cop gone Dillinger tale with Thomas Jane as Andre Stander, based on the actual events.. Decent action-ish flick for folks who don't need flying tanks or wire-fu..

The Last House on the Left (2009) - 7/10

Besides the horrid rape scene which goes above and beyond anything that should ever be in a movie, I liked it.

I was really surprised the MPAA let them keep so much of that rape scene in the movie.

Why are rape scenes even in movies? Makes absolutely no sense. It does not add to the movie; it takes away.

The scene in Deliverance was nothing compared to LHotL.

I disagree. Rape happens in real life. If it's central to the story, which it kind of was in Last House on the Left, it should be in the movie. It was definitely a graphic scene, but if the director feels it needs to be in the movie then he should put it in. It's his/her medium.

Keep in mind LHOTL is a remake and the early 70's original was infamously intended as a statement film - entirely about rape, murder and revenge. It's a mean, unapologetic movie. Both the remake and original intend to get you so fired up about a horrific crime that you would have to question how far you'd go for revenge. Similar scenarios play out in other horror flicks, I Spit on Your Grave, Deliverance, Mother's Day etc. but it's not uncommon in highly acclaimed "regular folk" flicks too - such as Straw Dogs, The Accused etc.
Hell, women will THROW DOWN THE GAUNTLET over some Thelma and Louise and it's ultimately the same scenario.. They loves them that movie..

Okay... but there are different levels of rape scenes... they could've not gone so far with it in this one. I've never seen anything like this in a movie before.

I was kinda disappointed with the remake. That microwave scene....
