yes.. which is exactly what everyone but you were saying here in the first place.

We knew the technical call could be right. Doesn't make the rule right, or right in the situation.

"The day I blame the officials for a loss is the day I don't need to be doing this anymore." - Jim Schwartz

Well, Jim... you should seriously blame them because they lost it for you. It was their fault and deserve to get hell for it. I'm sure you complained when the refs blow the delay call, although a lot of the blame fell on you for not blitzing a noob QB.

Bull, you never once admitted the call was right based on the rule, don't backtrack now. And when I presented you with what Mike Pereria and you dismissed it. I've watched the NBC and NFLN post game shows and both agree the call based on the rule is right which is what I said in my very first post here. If you don't like the rule fine, but they followed the rule and based on the rule, it's not a catch.

Yes, yes, yes, 1000 times yes. Exactly.

It is a JUDGEMENT call when the act of going to the ground is over. This is what chaps my azz. To the majority of the viewing public, the act was over when his butt hit the ground. He maintained possession completely through the entire process. The refs decided that there was not a second distinct act of turning over and using the ball to help push himself up.

It was a game winning catch and the refs DID blow their judgement portion of when the process of going to the ground ended. Nobody should be debating the rule- that is black and white. And nobody should be buying into Mike Pierera's blathering phony-baloney monologue about the "rule".

This controversy is centered around the refs JUDGEMENT of when the act of going to the ground was over.

    Terrible call. Even worse rule.

If a player has clear possession of the ball as he taps his feet on the sidelines it's a catch.

If a player has clear possession of the ball as he crosses the middle, takes 2 steps and gets hit and loses the ball it's a catch and fumble.

Possession + 2 feet should be the rule at all times. Anything else leaves too much room for bad interpretations like this one.

if i remember correctly the jags got a TD against us with a dropped pass because their receiver got three feet in first, if you watch the replay Johnson does as well, his right foot touches twice, so why isn't it the same?

Yes and I didn't think that was a TD, THAT was an incorrect call and I'm not just saying that because it's my team. Lance Moore's 2 point conversion wasn't a call by the same rule. Calvin Johnson should have just known the rule.

    Are you serious??

How many times did I tell you on the first page "WE KNOW THE RULE"??

The RULE wasn't what was in debate. The catch was. You apparently missed that for 2 pages so you kept going back to "the rule states". No one cared what the rule states. No one cares now what the rule states. The debate was- was it a catch or no? And it was. Regardless of what the stupid rule says.

Who cares ...... it's the Detroit Lions. :grrhee:

They would've felt uncomfortable with a win in the opener. The NFL just helped them IMO.
