Wow...didn't see this comng. I mean he looked horrible in preseason and all.

TAMPA - Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back LeGarrette Blount has appeared in one game, yet already is drawing comparisons to one of the Bucs' greatest players of all time.

Blount, who ran the ball six times for 27 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against Pittsburgh, had a power approach that reminded Bucs coach Raheem Morris of former fullback Mike Alstott.

"That run the other day was shades of Mike Alstott,'' Morris said of Blount's 1-yard touchdown plunge, which came late in the 38-13 loss to the Steelers at Raymond James Stadium. "That was nice to see.''

There's a good chance Bucs fans will see more of those kind of runs in the future. Though he hesitated to declare Blount his new short-yardage and goal-line back, Morris clearly has big plans for him.

"He's not declared,'' said Morris, who indicated on his weekly radio show on Monday that Blount would be the Bucs' new option in goal-line and short-yardage situations. "But he's definitely going to have a role (there) if he's not the back. He still has to go out there and compete with Earnest a little bit, but I'm sure Earnest Graham will gladly run up the sideline and tap him in if he keep giving us runs like that.''

At least our special teams play on coverage was strengthened.

true! we already allowed a TD return and muffed a punt in at critical time.

I think we have better talent on SP's but the coaching is still not up to par.

It's only one game but I figured Blount would be a good player, it was obvious to me. Oh no he can't play special teams, well neither can anyone else on our team. I was hoping for an added dimension in the offense but so much for that, guess it's gonna be more of the same "hope CJ breaks a long run and give the backup MAYBE 5 carries." Oh well, "more of the same" is the Titans team motto.

his ceiling is so low to just be a goal line carry back...I really wouldn't be that disapointed if he reach his full potential.

He still has a long, long way to go before he is a decent pro running back.

Still to this day i can't figure out why we released him and why some people didn't even care.

Oh yeah, because he punched someone in the face, right?
