I'm from Chattanooga but haven't lived in Tennessee since I was about 12 years old. I was always a Lions fan simply because I wanted to root for an NFL team and I loved Barry Sanders. (Still my all-time favorite player). I was getting very jaded by the Lions for obvious reasons and when the Oilers moved to Tennessee I was naturally interested but felt no bond or connection to the team enough to pull me away from my Lions. Once the 99 season hit as we were playing so well I started paying more and more attention. I remember the hype around the Titans/Rams game the first time we played them that year and then I just kept watching. The players on the team had so much heart and played with a purpose. By the time the music city miracle happened I'd just about forgotten about the Lions. When Dyson ran that ball back I came off the couch and literally hit my head on the ceiling fan. The rest is history. When we lost the Superbowl the way we did I felt the blow to my gut just as hard as I would for any team of any sport that I follow. I'm still in the drinking phase myself by the way. ;) GO TITANS!

When I was in elementary school I didn't really know much about football and just followed whichever teams my friends liked. Once I started to understand football during middle school, I was a huge fan of McNair and it grew to the Titans.

That is weird, exactly the same story as mine. Although I was 13 at the time of the Superbowl and I live in England. :D

It was 1977 and my family has a tradition that nobody can like the same team. My uncles pulled out a poster with all of the teams available. The teams taken were marked, so I couldn't pick. One of my uncles is a DIE HARD Steelers fan, and he told me to pick the Oilers. He said they are good and always play hard, so I chose them. The following year, we picked up "The Tyler Rose." It was over after that. I have forever been an Oilers/Titans fan. When they became the Titans, I couldn't believe it. I really love Greek mythology, and my name is Tim. So everyone who knows me says that the "T" on the helmet is for "Tim." I really get a kick out of it. I have been disappointed many, many times, but no matter what, I love this team. Through thick and thin. I literally walked out of the room after the last play of the Superbowl, and let it out. I am starting a fanclub for us here in Bakersfield, CA and am looking forward to attending my first game in Tennesee, I hope that happens soon. Here is a taste of how much of a fan I am.

My wife complained about there not being any nice Titans gear for women, so I cut up my Lendale White Jersey and made her a dress. After her cousins saw it, they went crazy, so I made them some also. I can now make any size, and they are made out of a real jersey.

I'm from Nashville so since we had no team I just rooted for the team my favorite player was on. My favorite player was Eric Metcalf so I was a Browns fan and hated the Oilers, Steelers and Bengals. When Metcalf was traded I figured I'd drop the Browns but after several years of watching them I stuck with them but then they moved and I lost interest in them. About that time I met my future wife who had just moved to Nashville from Houston and shortly after that the Oilers came from Houston too so my two loves came from Houston to Nashville about the same time.

@selever2000: love the "Titan's Lair"! One day I will have a space like that for all my Titans memorabilia and such.

I felt the same way about the 'T' on the side of the helmet... my last name begins with T, so it was always funny I kinda used it as my football family crest!

Being a native "Left-Coaster", I was a Rams fan/ticket holder until the exodus in '94 when Georgia Frontierre blamed it all on those of us that paid big $$ for the privelege of watching an inferior product on the field. I bounced around, looking for teams for awhile but never really bonded with the 49'rs, Raiders, Chargers, etc.

When I moved to Nashville in 2003, it was time to plant some roots. First year or two was tough.... but Brad Hopkins, Steve McNair, Drew Bennett and Jeff Fisher were classy folks that I liked.....so I stuck it out. Now, I'm a true blue Titan fan.

I grew up with my entire family being Steelers fans, but my great aunt and uncle from Houston were Oilers fans. When I was young, they would come up to visit us some weekends and some of those weekends fell on the day the Steelers and Oilers played. They started to get me into the Oilers and even sent me some memorabilia, so I became a fan of them and continued being a fan of them when they moved to Tennessee.

Now I'm probably one of three Titans fans on the campus of a Pittsburgh-area university, so I definitely receive my flak but it's all good.

Besides my six year old son (who is my Titan buddy) and my wife (who passively roots for the Titans just because they are my favorite team) I don't get alot of support for my Titans up here in Columbus, Ohio. My wife and her friends and family are all Browns fans, they all watch their games together and have their little Browns parties... well dammit I don't get a party! All I get is laptop and some sketchy internet stream for the game.

Unfortunately there is a large contingent of Steelers here as well. I went to a local Rooster's earlier in the season to watch the Pittsburgh game, everyone in the place went nuts when I walked in with my Titans jersey on (granted it was Lendale, but what the hell, right?!). I hear the calls of "Titans suck" or whatever meaningless garble they spewed because of seven stupid turnovers. Given the Titans performance that game, I didn't have much ammunition to fire back with but the point was that I was alone with noone else to help root with me... it kinda sucks.

The other day I was at a grocery store and I had to go up to the service counter, the guy behind the counter asked me if I liked the Titans (I had a old beat up Titans sweatshirt on) and I begrudgingly said yes thinking he would make fun of me too. He told me he was a longtime Titans fan as well... talk about shock! I just wanted to grab the guy and hug the hell out of him, it was like I made a new best friend or something! Finally someone here who is a Titans fan, unbelievable. I rarely, if ever see one of those up here.

But that's why I love being a Titans fan, since day one with the team I was different than everyone else. Amid a sea of Black & Gold or Orange & Brown conformity, I wore my Titan colors proudly. I get heckled all the time, I catch flack quite often but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Family is from Houston and I liked the Oilers back in the day... then I lived in Nash during the first season when they played in Adelphia and the Titans Jags was the first game I saw live. It just made sense.
