Come on, we're talking Peyton Manning. There's no comparison. VY is no Peyton Manning and never will be, Peyton has a couple bad games every once in a while, VY has a couple good games every once in a while. Peyton have NEVER quit on his team, encouraged boos from the crowd, went M.I.A. and never had the police out looking for him in conjunction with a suicide watch and most importantly he NEVER misses games because of injury and one more thing, he's already taken his team to two SB's and won one of them...again...no comparison.

In other words you're not going to refute what I said and just make a smart @$$ remark. Got it.

The owner has been more than overly patient with him. Other first round picks were given much less time than Young has.

Two pick 6s today too....fun to watch.

I am not a Peyton fan, but in his defense, he has earned his benefit of the doubt here (multiple playoff wins, comeback wins, and no whining to the coach or press when things go bad....sort of like a LEADER). Not only that, but when the "greener grass" included Jim Sorgi, and now Luke Painter, a switch is really not an option.

I have seen alot of QBs get benched in tough stretches though...including Palmer, Favre, Campbell, Hassleback, McNabb, Eli Manning, etc...), usually only for the remainder of a game (like VY was in the Steeler game).

I'm pretty sure he considered retiring his 2nd(?) year? The last injury he wanted back in the game and had too much heart for it. I'm not sure one way or the other whether that has been the case for the other injuries.

Like him or not, VY is too polarizing and has gone too far with the Titans to be the long term QB. If Fisher gets sent packing, Young thinks he "won" and the new coach is undermined before he even starts.

IMO, Fisher needs to be fired and VY traded or cut.

I can't stand Manning, but he is definitely an excellent QB. However, I disagree that he doesn't whine (see Colts/Steelers postgame press conference from years back: "Let's just say we had some protection problems.") He has been pretty quiet this year, but in seasons past, he has pointed fingers or yelled at players on the field and sideline when things weren't going his way. And, it took him a long time to be a playoff and SB winning QB. Don't forget the years we had to hear "Peyton is a great QB, but he can't win a SB."

Manning is the first person to whine and throw his team under the bus. I remember a big crap storm about his kicker, and he was yelling at a WR today for one of his forced INT's.

ITT - Vince haters scratching and clawing for reasons to still hate him as they would rather watch the team crash and burn than succeed with VY

Yeah Vanderjagt did not need a calling out....why, he moved on to Dallas where he was........umm......cut halfway through his first season for pretty much not kicking field goals or extra points. Other than that I hear he was fun to party with.

Also, there is a BIG difference between getting on a player during a game and walking out on a team and/or coach after the game...please do not equate these.

However, I do stand corrected on the whining about the OL...I really do not want to defend Peyton (happy feet choke man) here.

I didn't really think you were defending Peyton, but just wanted to remind people that he was once the QB who couldn't win in the playoffs, so these things take time. And I can't stand him, so I like to point out his flaws :)

As far as the getting on a player during a game, walking out after, I have a different perspective. Personally, I think it is better to be frustrated off camera and the coach and team can choose to keep it between themselves. Fisher chose to call Vince out in the media, which I completely do not respect. It's one thing for players to do it, but for a coach to do it is pretty shoddy. I'm sure there are plenty of times coaches and players have gotten into it, but we don't hear about it. Fisher defends Donnie Nickey for punching and spitting at training camp, Finnegan for fighting with Johnson (Even praised him for his "restraint"), and Blount for fighting as "these things happen. Guys are competitive." I'm not saying I agree with Young entirely, but people do get frustrated and say and do things they don't mean. Had Fisher not spewed it all over the national press, we wouldn't be talking about it. We would simply be talking about how terrible the coaching is on offense and defense, not Vince Young. In my opinion, we really shouldn't be talking about Vince until the off season anyway, but Fisher has created a perfect distraction from his subpar coaching and long losing streaks 2 straight seasons in a row.

Okay, I feel better. Not all of this is directed at you, but at the thread as well.
