The real problem as I see it is that, while that's a great philosophy, we have never executed perfectly for an entire season. We are always short on one of the key elements. We have good running and a bad D or we have solid d but can't get 8 and 9 guys out of the box because we can't pass. The theory behind Fisherball may be sound but the problem is either we have never had adequate personnel to execute it throughout the season or Fisher and crew are not intelligent enough to coach it correctly. Either way same result.

We always get lost somewhere along the way to the big dance.

The Steelers, Colts,Pats, Ravens have all had more players and coaches come and go than we have yet they don't seem to miss a beat.

We only see 3-4 elite QB's emerge each decade at best so getting such a QB involves an amount of luck or the nuts to trade for one.

They each have defensive/offensive schemes that are easier to restock with talent than Fishers.

They adjust their style year in year out to suit who they have on their roster.

Fisher keeps stubbornly trying the same thing no matter who we have on the roster.

Our wide stance front four d line is useless without two elite tackles.Devastating with them. The guys our scheme needs are 1st rnd picks and hard to come by.

We are predictable year in year out. Teams come out in the 2nd half against us and consistently adjust and out coach us.

At times I've detested Belichick but right now I'd give my left nut to get him as our HC

I'll contribute my right nut. I think they're worth more as a pair.

IMO, it's not just about rushing but effective rushing. George was done by '02. He ate time but was no longer the focus of the offense. McNair passed for the most yards that season he did his entire career (including the MVP season). He completed more deep passes which, I think, goes against what I call the low-risk passing game of Fisherball.

Giving it more thought, I do think '08 is a good example. CJ and White combined had 2,000 yards rushing. The defense wasn't as dominant as in 2000, but they were stingy giving up points.

Totally agree. There have been exceptions but it's been rare.

All I know is that the Jags were completely predictable last week...and the Titans could not have stopped them if they had been allowed to put 12-13 players on the field.

That comes from attitude...aggressive play that says "you cannot stop this". The Titans used to be that team. We cannot run the ball and I think they completely screwed the O-line this year. Scott has been a huge letdown and Amano is not a good center. The O-line has no sense of continuity and it's like they are all playing as individuals and less like a unit...again, that is lack of a good leader like Mawae.

We rarely see the misdirection runs, the slide the line but pitch the other way runs...it's bad when the minute they line up I can, on way too many occasions, call the run play from my seat in the South EZ.

We were 4th in rushing attempts that year.

Those 2 years were a good example of how to aciheve balance because we had an elite QB and good Wrs while still running the ball a lot.

Another poster who doesn't get it. Read the damn post! It's not the philosophy that is wrong it is the execution of that philosphy.

What about the other 10 seasons that Jeff failed to have a winning record?
    Did we fail then too?

Your statement is completely misleading and sometimes just dead wrong

Yes other coaches are winning by doing the things you described BUT THAT IS NOT FISHERBALL

You can cite all the statistics you want but the only ones that matter when it comes to the Titans and Jeff Fisher is he has had 6 winning seasons out of 17 and NO championships. It's his legacy and if we don't get rid of him imeadiately and give him another year or two, it will be a world record of LOSING as a NFL coach. I don't think we as a team want to be remembered for that.

Stop settling for mediocracy and goofy mustaches.... stop defending that LOSER Get on the winning bandwagon!

    FIRE JEFF FIRE JEFF!!

Then IT IS NOT FISHERBALL, it is just a heavy dose of the run. Fisherball has never won anything worth a damn in the NFL. So obviously Fisherball doesn't work good enough, but heavy run an good blocking and execution sure does.
