It wasn't emotional.. It was your favorite language STATISTICS.
    Statistically he IS a loser.. he is a 6 - 11coach over 17 years

    Maybe the success he had?????

    What success did he have?

Remember he LOST the Super bowl. he didn't win it.

Finishing in the top 10 in all 3 of those categories is much easier said than done. Therein lies the major flaw of "Fisherball". If things don't go exactly as you plan then it's game over. It's very difficult to catch up playing Fisherball. Sure other teams and coaches are successful with a run-heavy offense. The difference being that most of those coaches know when and how to make adjustments. Fisher has shown time and time again that he either a.) has an inability to see/execute those adjustments, or b.) is simply too stubborn to abandon his original gameplan until it's too late.

IMO that's really all that holds Fisher back from being a great coach. His world class stubbornness.

"What? CJ keeps getting stuffed behind the line? Let's keep doing it and wear them down!"
"Nick Harper's getting burned every other play? Who cares? He's my starter! The guy sure as hell can tackle!"
"We've lost 6 in row and Kerry just threw for -7 yards in an entire game you say? Oh well. He gives us the best chance to win."

It's those kind of boneheaded decisions that separates Fisher and guys like Ryan and Harbaugh. I don't think anyone here believes he doesn't know the x's on o's. He's just so set in his ways that he refuses to EVER admit he's wrong (both on and off the field), even to the detriment of the team.

I'm not a Fisherball fan, or run first fan either. I like the way the Colts and Pats play. The run can be stopped, but you can't stop the pass. If you can pass successfully, you can run a lot then as well. I would have liked to seen VY have 300 yards per game passing.

Simple statistic for comparative consideration: Last season, 9 of the top 12 passing teams in the league made the playoffs; both Super Bowl teams were top 4

Why did the "Fisherball" philosophy get rid of a "Fisherball" type player in LeGarrette Blount?

If you're going to keep your "Fisherball" ways, then you better sign and draft players that fit "Fisherball" style.

This is no longer a smash mouth team that runs teams to the ground and plays TOUGH HARD HITTING DEFENSE and then beats you 13-10 in a last second FG. Those days are long gone and been gone since the departure of McNair, George and Company.

In Jeff Fisher, WE don't TRUST...

First of let me just say, that when you don't have a really good QB, a run oriented/good defense team gives you the best chance to win.

This year, IMO the biggest mistake our coaches have made was the fact that they stayed away from the POWER running, perhaps... because of CJ and his results the past season with his speed type running.

They traded Lendale, not that he was much of a power runner but..., and should have kept L.Blount (BIG mistake). I truly believe that at this point CJ would be better and our offense as well if we had a big back running some of the offensive snaps. Meanwhile, this must be contagious and the OLine also got softer.

Likewise, the defense seems to lack practice reps against a big back. Titans defense since the departed AH got lighter with more speed but far less impact. Free pass for guys like Rashard Mendenhall, Mike Tolbert, M.Jones-Drew but also lets out the inability to stop the opposing tie-ends and their the run-after-catch.

Does fisherball works? Yes, but in order to be fisherball they need to make some adjustments!!

"Fisherball" is more correctly known as "Martyball", and it didn't work for Shottenheimer either.

The "basic formula" that is being lauded by the OP works during regular season but does not survive playoffs. "Executing" can't happen when every opponent knows what you're gonna do. ( BTW, I can't shake the embarrassing memory of sitting in a sports bar full of people who were Titans fans for a day watching Eddie George running up the gut over and over and over and over and over and over and over ad infinitum and everyone was screaming at the screen wonder what the F was wrong with Jeff Fisher and why is he trying to lose? Everyone watching knew that strategy doesn't work, and I had no answers.)

Playoff teams get to the playoffs by being able to stop the run. Teams advance by scoring points. R2P2 game plans don't work here.
