The coaches have an effect on the game. The players also have a much larger effect on the game. You can't fire all the players, you need to also improve the coach.

With the logic you presented, why should you ever fire the coach other than for personnel decisions if it's always the players fault?

Its the way every business works.

Fisher is the equivalent of a manager in the corporate world. He's not the one that does the work but he's the one that gets graded on the work that is produced. His job is to build a team and enable his employees to succeed at their job.

If Chris Hope misses a tackle, is that Fisher's fault? Obviously not, but it was Fisher that put him in that position. He had a say in signing him and making him active that game. That's not even the most important point though...

Fisher influences Hope's decisions and fundamentals in the daily practices. He tells him what to focus on during games, how to react to certain situations. That's all part of being a head coach. You teach your players how you want them to play in your system. Its a team sport and everything has to come together for you to be successful.

If you took a bunch of NFL players, put them on the field and told them to defend against the colts without any called plays, how do you think they'd fare? I'd bet pretty terribly. Add some play calling to that (coach's responsibility) and they improve. Imagine Peyton notices a hole in the defense and starts exploiting it. Adjustments have to be made to the play calling (coach's responsibility). Even if its someone getting beat one on one... you can't just go out there and say he sucks. You have to do what it takes to win and you as a coach are responsible for providing help where it is needed. There will be mismatches in every game.

Bottom line is you can always find someone to point the finger at other than the coach. You can say Cecil is making bad play calls, Munchak isn't teaching the line how to block or Amano has bad reflexes and is slow off the line. It doesn't matter. At the end of the day, Fisher is responsible for the success of the group as a whole. That is his job.

Five of the last seven seasons have losing streaks of 5 games or more.

So it's always 100% the players fault each of those seasons and the coaches are absolved of any and all blame?

You're right, no coach anywhere should be fired EVER! They have no influence whatsoever at all over the players performances.

Your entire post is a far reach in nearly every aspect. 95% of the blame goes to the staff huh? Did you research this or just assume it based off of what people on THIS site think?

I'd say there is a fair amount of criticism for the staff and the players here. Week in and week out, there are posts about how Hope, Scaife, Collins, Vy, Etc. are all awful and need to be cut. Fisher just happens to be included in that discussion.

    95% is a reach.

I think this is at the heart of why you're upset over the criticism of the coaches. Maybe I'm wrong, but it appears as though you believe that because they are millionaires they should take all of the blame and the coaches should take none of it. The coaches get paid handsomely too, just not as much as the players.

As I pointed out previously, the players get plenty of blame as does Jeff. I contend that YOU must point the finger at the coaches, eventually!

When a team (Titans) is down or loses, it's no the coaches fault, it's the players. That I agree with. However, when season after season, the same problems plague a team, the same issues cause teams to lose, and the team consistently struggles with discipline, that's on the coach.

Absolutely. The leader can't be held responsible for the performance of his underlings. That's not a leader's job. His job is to take credit for those winning seasons, which occur about every 3 years.
