Exactly what I said. I guess we're moderate.

3 is the tough one.If you don't make the 4th down they only need 10 yards to get in field goal range. Punting it is the logical play to make the drive further.

I say bollocks to it and call a fake punt.

I think with 4 you have to say that the 2nd string QB got you to that point and you have momentum.

    1: A Go for it.
52 yard FG is tougher than 2 yards. If you miss the FG they start on their 42 - that pretty much hands them 3 points given they've already put up 3 TDs and a FG. If you can't get 2 yards then getting 3 scores isn't going to happen anyway.

    2: B Run it.
Do I have CJ? A pass on 3rd & 15 can be risky enough, let alone inside my 3, let alone tied with 5 minutes left. Something like a delay draw - suck an overly-aggressive D in looking for the safety and see if CJ can at least buy your punter some room. Maybe bust one.

3: A Go for it. Easiest decision of the bunch to me.
It's a game of momentum. Never give the ball to a team when they are rolling. You have to be able to get 4th and inches most of the time. If you punt you need a defensive stop. If you fail the 4th down you need a defensive stop. If they score again, option A leaves you with no time on the clock to respond, option B gives you maybe 2 minutes.

    4:B go to OT.
With a backup QB I want more time to sit with him and get a good playset together. With a starting QB I'd still rather trust my team with a winning drive than gamble it all on 1 play with a less than favorable success rate.

Well I'm assuming we have rob bironas...and a lot of other factors play into it. Personel, wind, exact scenario etc..

    1. You have to go for it on a 4th and 2. You have to trust your offense in situations like that. A FG isn't gonna cut deep enough into that lead.

    2. This one is tricky when you're on your own 3 but running here isn't gonna get you enough to convert so you have to pass.

    3. This one is a no-brainer, you want to seal this game up so you have to go for it on 4th and short. If you don't trust your offense enough to get you an inch then you might as well have just punted on 3rd down.

    4. I hate OT but in a win and you're in situation then you have to play it safe and play for OT. It'd be harder to swallow not converting the 2 pointer than it would be to lose in OT. You at least give your team a chance to have a shot at winning. Going for 2 and the win is too risky in this kind of situation.

A lot of those questions depend on which side of the ball I have more faith in. Is your offense more likely to convert the 4th and 1 than your defense is to stop the other team? If we're playing the Steelers and it was 4th and 1, I may not go for it. On the other hand, if we're playing against the Pats there's no way I'd want to give the ball to Brady and I'd probably go for it though.

In general though, all circumstances being equal, my preferred calls would be:
    A
    B

If I were coaching, the scores would never come down to those scenarios. My team would put up 38 points every game and drop kick anyone who looks at our endzone.

I would bribe the ref... every play would be a first down... and nothing but TDs
