Ok, so lets see. His first year he started 1 game. His second year he started zero games. His 3rd year he started 11, was injured and was traded to Cinci.

His 4th year he rushed for 1251 yards.

I would rather have him than a few others on the list.

He isn't top 10 but he isn't bottom 10 either. I would say he is a solid RB but not exceptional.

He didn't do anything to earn the starting job, which should be easy to earn considering he was 1st rounder. That's more of a defense as to why he is bad than good.

But Thomas Jones was good in front of him.. Why'd they draft Benson anyway?

^He'll have the same yards this season
I think Benson is simply overlooked due to his slow start with The Bears then ending up in no-man's land in Cincy.

Gotta agree completely here, first of all, you need to include Steven Jackson in the league with CJ and AP, the guy is a beast and has been a beast consistently.

Benson isn't terrible and I'd say definitely above average, but he's no where near those guys.

He lost the starting job because of his hold out. He also alienated some of the Bears players and never fit in to Chicago.

Not to mention some off field issues he had.

I'm sorry but this is ludicrous. Two WRs to take pressure off of you? How about when they had success, they just kept passing to them. When they failed miserably, the D was already ready to defend the run. As a Titans fan, you should know that a good WR that doesn't produce doesn't take pressure off, and only puts pressure on. Unlike TN, though, when the WRs are hot, they get the ball. It's likely one of THE worst situations for a RB.

There are a couple of articles floating around from earlier in the season and more recently where Marvin is pretty livid about TO and Chad barely going thru the motions on non-passing plays (blocking for Benson - stretching the field, picking up the safety etc.). With both TO and Chad out for this game Shipley and Jerome Simpson moved into those positions and gave 110% and it had a big effect on the run effectiveness.. Benson in turn highly praised both Ship and Simpson on Monday for doing their job.

These are criticisms long associated with TO and Moss types. Explains alot as to why Marvin wanted to bench TO for the rest of the season even though he technically was having a very decent year receiving.
    Team first..

And make as many lists of better RBs around the league. How many of those guys have literally pummeled Polamalu regularly? Certainly not CJ. Benson has no contract with Cincy after this season and I'd take him in a heartbeat to split carries here. The guy is a bowling ball up the gut..

Yeah knock CJ for not running over Polmalu! Keep grasping at straws...
